As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Area Manager to join our team and drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights.
The Travel Area Manager will travel to client locations across the United States and be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of strategic account projects from initiation through completion. This role provides leadership and operational oversight for a team of Traveling Project Managers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Travel Area Manager serves as a key client-facing leader, responsible for managing customer relationships, resolving escalated issues, driving operational excellence, and ensuring consistent project delivery across multiple locations. This role is instrumental in mobilizing teams, supporting workforce development, reporting on project performance, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and support to a team of Traveling Project Managers and project personnel
- Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture focused on accountability, safety, customer satisfaction, and professional development
- Conduct regular performance reviews and implement development plans as needed
- Support workforce planning, staffing initiatives, and succession planning efforts
- Participate in candidate interviews, hiring decisions, onboarding, and ongoing employee development
- Ensure team members complete required training, certifications, and compliance requirements
- Client & Stakeholder Relations:
- Serve as the primary escalation point for strategic account clients and internal stakeholders
- Build and maintain strong relationships with client Points of Contact (POCs) to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term growth
- Conduct client meetings as required to review project performance, discuss concerns, and identify opportunities for additional services
- Support Project Managers with customer communications, conflict resolution, and issue management
- Deliver executive-level updates on project status, risks, and performance metrics
- Project & Operational Oversight:
- Oversee multiple projects across various client locations to ensure compliance with client requirements, project scope, timelines, and budgets
- Monitor project performance and support Project Managers in resolving operational challenges that may impact delivery
- Ensure pre-project planning, mobilization activities, and site access requirements are completed successfully
- Review project controls, staffing plans, and project schedules regularly to identify risks and maintain profitability
- Support development and execution of project documentation, procedures, and operational workflows
- Ensure post-project reports are completed and delivered to clients as required
- Financial Management & Budget Oversight:
- Oversee project financial performance across assigned accounts and regions
- Review project controls sheets, budgets, forecasting reports, and financial metrics on a regular basis
- Ensure budgets are maintained and variances are addressed promptly
- Monitor labor utilization, travel costs, subcontractor expenses, and project profitability
- Review and approve employee expenses, timecards, and project-related expenditures as required
- Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure 100% adherence to Salute Mission Critical safety standards and best practices
- Ensure compliance with all client security, privacy, and site-specific requirements
- Conduct regular audits and quality reviews to ensure operational excellence and project consistency
- Verify daily THAs (Task Hazard Analyses) are being conducted and documented by project teams
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all projects
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
- Process Improvement & Operational Excellence:
- Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, project execution, and overall service delivery
- Develop and implement solutions that improve project performance, reduce costs, and enhance scalability
- Standardize best practices across teams and projects to drive consistency and efficiency
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives, operational goals, and continuous improvement efforts
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when necessary
- Training & Workforce Development:
- Support onboarding and training efforts for new hires and Project Managers
- Provide coaching and mentorship to ensure employees are equipped for success
- Assist with On-The-Job (OTJ) training initiatives until competency requirements are achieved
- Ensure team members remain current on company training, safety expectations, and client-specific requirements
- Promote career development and internal advancement opportunities
- Travel Requirements:
- Travel extensively throughout the United States to support strategic account projects and client locations
- Coordinate travel logistics, site access requirements, and workforce deployment activities
- Travel requirements will vary based on project needs and customer demand and may exceed 50% of work time
- Work-related travel expenses, including airfare, lodging, rental vehicles, and per diem, will be provided
Professional Experience / Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience managing Project Managers, field operations teams, or similar roles within project-based environments
- Demonstrated success improving customer satisfaction, operational performance, and project profitability
- Strong understanding of project financials, forecasting, budgeting, subcontractor management, and risk mitigation
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across geographically dispersed locations
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client relationship management skills
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to employees, leadership teams, and client stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced operational environments
- Experience developing, implementing, and improving operational processes and procedures
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, scheduling, reporting, and resource planning
- Experience supporting recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and employee development initiatives
- Proficiency with project management software, Microsoft Office applications, and reporting tools
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment-related tasks
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas efficiently
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently within various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
- Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform detailed tasks while wearing required PPE
- Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures within facilities
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
- Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
- Possession of a valid driver's license for work-related travel
