POSITION OVERVIEWThe Township of Edison is seeking a creative, organized, and highly motivated Media Production Assistant to support the Township's digital communications, media production, and social media initiatives. This position will be responsible for developing, producing, editing, and publishing engaging multimedia content highlighting the Township's and Mayor's initiatives, public appearances, community events, and the Township's programs, services, and initiatives.Working closely with the Mayor and the Township Administration, the Media Production Assistant will help ensure timely, accurate, and consistent communication with residents through digital platforms and social media channels. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, public-facing environment and maintaining a flexible schedule to accommodate official events, breaking news, and time-sensitive communications.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES● Develop, film, photograph, edit, and produce social media content, videos, reels, graphics, and other digital materials for the Mayor and the Township of Edison.● Manage the creation, preparation, and scheduling of the Mayor's social media content in coordination with the Township Administration.● Attend and document the Mayor's official appearances, community events, ceremonies, press conferences, meetings, and other engagements requiring media coverage.● Coordinate coverage of the Township's events, programs, public announcements, and municipal initiatives.● Work directly with the Mayor and Administration to communicate key messages and promote municipal priorities as well as community engagement.● Maintain a content calendar and coordinate the timely preparation and publication of social media posts across applicable platforms.● Capture and edit high-quality photographs and video footage for public information, promotional materials, and digital communications.● Monitor social media trends and recommend creative approaches to improve audience engagement and the accessibility of Township communications.● Ensure all content is professional, accurate, appropriate, and consistent with Township communications standards and applicable policies.● Maintain an organized digital archive of photographs, video footage, graphics, and other media assets.● Perform other related duties as assigned by the Township Administration.QUALIFICATIONS● Experience in media production, digital communications, social media management, videography, photography, or a related field.● Demonstrated ability to create engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other applicable channels.● Proficiency with video editing, photography, graphic design, and multimedia production tools.● Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.● Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, meet tight deadlines, and exercise sound professional judgment.● Ability to interact professionally with elected officials, municipal employees, community organizations, residents, and members of the media.● A portfolio or examples of prior media production and social media work is preferred.● Relevant education, training, or equivalent professional experience is preferred.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires a flexible schedule, including availability during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other off-hours to accommodate the Mayor's calendar, Township events, and time-sensitive communications. The employee must be able to travel to various locations throughout the Township and attend events as needed.The Media Production Assistant is a non-union position within the Township Administration and reports directly to Township Administration.
