Position Number: P#804
Compensation: $43,920 - $45,355 annually, depending on qualifications and experience | $61,285 annually if fully licensed | Travel reimbursement provided

About the Role

The Mental Health Intervention Specialist is responsible for coordinating mental health care and intervention services for juvenile offenders under the supervision of the Tyler or Polk County Juvenile Probation Departments. This position works closely with juvenile probation officers serving this population to provide intensive services that address mental health needs and increase everyone's ability to function successfully within the community.

The Mental Health Intervention Specialist provides screening, assessment, and treatment services and participates with probation staff in team meetings to determine appropriate resources and supports. This position also maintains caseload data and provides monthly reporting under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate mental health care and intervention services for juvenile offenders supervised by the Tyler and Polk County Juvenile Probation Departments.
  • Work closely with juvenile probation officers serving the same population.
  • Provide intensive services to address mental health needs and support successful functioning within the community.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments and provide treatment services.
  • Participate in team meetings with probation staff to determine appropriate resources and support.
  • Coordinate services and resources based on individual needs.
  • Maintain a database of caseload information.
  • Prepare monthly caseload reports.
  • Perform duties under the supervision of the unit Clinical Coordinator.

What You Need

Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, or another Human Services field.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Driving record that meets Burke's insurance requirements.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to successfully complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, Defensive Driving, Van Driving, and other required training.

Preferred

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Six (6) months of direct care experience working with children or adults in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting.
  • Six (6) months of experience in a juvenile or criminal justice setting.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health diagnostic criteria.
  • Full licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • After-hours or weekend services may be required when necessary.
  • Travel is required.
  • Travel reimbursement is provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle as required for job responsibilities.
  • Hand and finger dexterity is sufficient to perform required duties.
