Position Summary

Quest International is seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical equipment at hospitals, laboratories, industrial facilities, and other customer locations throughout the Washington, D.C. area and assigned territories.

This is a travel-intensive field-service position, not a remote IT-support or help-desk position. The technician must be comfortable working independently, traveling to customer sites, communicating professionally, and completing accurate service documentation.

This is a temp-to-hire opportunity. Conversion to regular employment is not guaranteed and depends on performance, attendance, business needs, customer requirements, and successful completion of applicable employment requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical equipment using approved service procedures and diagnostic tools.

  • Diagnose and replace FRUs, modules, circuit boards, power supplies, sensors, motors, wiring, cables, connectors, harnesses, and mechanical assemblies.

  • Read and follow service manuals, diagrams, SOPs, safety requirements, and customer-site procedures.

  • Verify equipment operation after service, escalate unresolved problems, and complete accurate service reports, work orders, test results, photographs, and parts records.

  • Coordinate customer appointments, travel, tools, parts, documentation, and changing assignments while communicating professionally with customers and Quest teams.

Required Qualifications
  • At least one year of professional hands-on experience in field service, equipment repair, industrial maintenance, electronics, automotive diagnostics, appliance repair, medical equipment, or another electro-mechanical role.

  • Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing electro-mechanical equipment, including professional use of a digital multimeter.

  • Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, service procedures, and safety instructions and to use required Windows and basic networking tools.

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle available for customer-site travel, and ability to meet Quest’s work-related automobile-insurance requirements.

  • Ability to travel up to 80%, perform essential field duties—including lifting up to 50 pounds—with or without reasonable accommodation, and complete the post-offer Human Performance Test.

Windows and Networking Requirements
  • Use Windows 10 and Windows 11, including file, folder, device, and application management.

  • Use Task Manager, Event Viewer, Command Prompt, or PowerShell during equipment diagnosis.

  • Use ping, ipconfig, and tracert to identify basic connectivity problems.

  • Configure or verify static IP, DHCP, subnet, gateway, DNS, and network-adapter settings.

  • Use Remote Desktop or approved support tools and manage electronic reports, photographs, manuals, and diagnostic files.

Preferred Experience
  • Medical, diagnostic, laboratory, industrial, professional A/V, optical, manufacturing, or OEM equipment service.

  • BMET, electronics, electrical, automotive, aviation, robotics, mechatronics, or military technical training.

  • Experience using oscilloscopes, power supplies, cable testers, pressure meters, vacuum meters, or comparable diagnostic equipment.

  • Experience working independently at customer locations and traveling across a multi-state service territory.

  • Experience servicing equipment within a regulated, safety-sensitive, or quality-controlled environment.

Benefits

Benefit programs may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, and supplemental insurance options. Eligibility and effective dates depend on employment status and applicable plan terms. Temp-to-hire status does not guarantee conversion or eligibility for every benefit program.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Quest International is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are based on job-related qualifications, demonstrated experience, business requirements, and the ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualified applicants with criminal histories will be considered in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
