Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Technical Program Management based in United States.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to establish and scale a Technical Program Management function within a rapidly growing technology organization.
You will define the operating model, planning disciplines, governance practices, and execution standards needed to manage increasingly complex technical programs.
The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on ownership of critical cross-functional initiatives spanning Product, Engineering, Clinical, Operations, Data, and Marketing.
You will bring structure to ambiguity, manage dependencies and risks, and provide executives with clear visibility into portfolio health and delivery readiness.
A key early focus will be coordinating interconnected initiatives around patient retention and longitudinal care.
You will also recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing TPM team known for technical curiosity, ownership, transparency, and constructive challenge.
This role is ideal for a pragmatic builder who thrives in high-growth environments and wants to shape both the function and the programs it enables.
- Establish a lightweight, scalable Technical Program Management operating model covering program planning, governance, dependency management, risk management, and executive visibility.
- Define consistent measures for program health, technical readiness, and launch readiness to enable proactive intervention and informed decision-making.
- Personally lead high-priority, technically complex initiatives across Product, Engineering, and broader business functions.
- Build integrated program plans that clearly define milestones, dependencies, sequencing, resource constraints, critical paths, and key decisions.
- Apply strong technical judgment to understand systems, challenge assumptions, identify hidden dependencies, and surface delivery risks early.
- Drive resolution of cross-functional blockers and ensure critical decisions are escalated and made at the appropriate level and time.
- Establish launch-readiness standards spanning technical, operational, clinical, regulatory, privacy, legal, support, and go-to-market considerations.
- Provide Product and Technology leadership with clear insight into portfolio health, trade-offs, shared constraints, sequencing, and upcoming decisions.
- Lead strategic programs requiring coordination across multiple teams and disciplines, including initiatives supporting patient retention and longitudinal care.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-impact TPM team while fostering a culture of accountability, technical curiosity, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Bring 10+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering program management, product development, or a closely related discipline.
- Have 2+ years of people leadership experience, ideally including the development and management of TPMs or other technical program leaders.
- Demonstrate experience building or significantly evolving program-management practices within a growing technology organization.
- Have a strong track record leading large, technically complex initiatives involving multiple engineering and product teams.
- Possess strong technical fluency and the ability to quickly understand systems and engage in discussions involving architecture, APIs, data flows, platforms, technical constraints, and engineering trade-offs.
- Demonstrate expertise in dependency management, technical planning, risk management, program governance, and launch readiness.
- Be highly effective at transforming ambiguity into clear structure while avoiding unnecessary process and bureaucracy.
- Possess excellent executive communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to distinguish issues requiring escalation from those best resolved at the team level.
- Demonstrate the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams without relying solely on formal authority.
- Be comfortable balancing strategic leadership responsibilities with hands-on ownership of critical programs.
- Experience in healthcare, health technology, regulated technology, or another complex operating environment is preferred.
- Experience working in a high-growth or scale-up technology environment is strongly preferred.
- Base salary range of $190,000–$215,000 CAD, depending on experience and geographic location.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, including mental health coverage.
- Whole-body health scans included as part of the employee benefits.
- Flexible vacation policy designed to support meaningful time away and employee wellbeing.
- Growth and development opportunities with flexibility to shape your career path.
- Regular opportunities for team connection, collaboration, and social interaction.
- Eligible Canadian employees can access RRSP and TFSA retirement savings plans with immediate, optional enrollment.
- Opportunity to contribute to a mission focused on improving healthcare through proactive, technology-enabled care.
- A collaborative, high-performing environment centered on innovation, ownership, patient impact, and continuous improvement.
- Background checks are conducted for successful candidates in accordance with applicable regulations.
