About the Role:
The CDL Class A Driver plays a critical role in the transportation and warehousing industry by safely and efficiently operating commercial motor vehicles to transport goods across various regions within the United States. This position requires the driver to adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations while ensuring timely delivery of cargo to designated locations. The driver will be responsible for maintaining the vehicle in optimal condition through routine inspections and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Effective communication with dispatchers, customers, and team members is essential to coordinate schedules and resolve any delivery challenges. Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class A driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating Class A commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
- Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug screening.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety inspection procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
- Familiarity with hazardous materials (HAZMAT) transportation and related endorsements.
- Previous experience in long-haul or regional freight delivery.
- Customer service experience and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to perform minor vehicle repairs and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Class A commercial motor vehicles to transport freight safely and efficiently over long distances.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of freight to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery records in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to provide updates on delivery status and address any issues that arise during transit.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to minimize risks and ensure safe operation.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and optimize route efficiency.
