This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DVP, Business Manager, Education Communication Systems based in United States.
This executive leadership role is responsible for shaping the strategy, growth, product portfolio, and overall performance of an education communications business. You will have direct accountability for orders, revenue, gross margin, profitability, and long-term business development. The role combines general management, commercial leadership, product strategy, and customer engagement within a technology-driven environment. You will translate market trends and customer insights into multi-year strategies, product roadmaps, and investment priorities. Working across Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance, you will drive alignment and execution. - Own the Education business strategy and operating plan, with direct accountability for orders, revenue growth, gross margin, operating profit, and overall business performance.
- Develop and execute long-term growth strategies covering market expansion, customer acquisition, portfolio development, market share growth, and customer retention.
- Lead multi-year business and product roadmap development, balancing customer needs, market opportunities, technology investments, and financial objectives.
- Identify emerging market trends, customer requirements, competitive dynamics, and technology opportunities and translate these insights into actionable business and product priorities.
- Act as a senior voice of the customer, strengthening relationships with school districts, consultants, systems integrators, channel partners, and other strategic stakeholders.
- Lead commercial strategy in partnership with Sales and Marketing, including pricing, channel strategy, go-to-market planning, strategic account development, demand generation, and market penetration.
- Monitor bookings, revenue, backlog, conversion, profitability, market share, customer retention, and new product performance, taking corrective action where required.
- Own product portfolio strategy, lifecycle management, roadmap prioritization, investment decisions, and portfolio optimization.
- Oversee business cases and investment priorities for new product development, ensuring appropriate alignment between customer value, market potential, technical feasibility, and financial returns.
- Partner with Engineering, Finance, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure effective product development, launches, delivery, capital allocation, and ongoing portfolio performance.
- Drive customer-centered innovation and evaluate strategic partnerships with external vendors and technology companies that can support growth opportunities.
- Lead annual operating planning, forecasting, resource allocation, budgeting, pricing strategies, and profitability improvement initiatives.
- Build and develop high-performing teams, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and cultivate a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and market-focused decision making.
- Coach and develop future leaders while supporting talent development and succession planning.
- Represent the business externally with customers, industry associations, channel partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; an MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in general management, business management, or P&L-focused roles with accountability for orders, revenue, gross margin, and operating income.
- Proven track record of driving organic growth, margin expansion, and overall business performance within a technology, industrial, or solutions-oriented organization.
- Demonstrated experience developing product portfolio strategies, multi-year product roadmaps, investment plans, and new product introduction initiatives.
- Experience leading a business with responsibility for both commercial performance and product portfolio decisions.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with pricing, go-to-market strategy, customer engagement, forecasting, budgeting, and business planning.
- Ability to integrate customer and market insights with product strategy and financial objectives to develop sustainable growth plans.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional organizations, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver results in decentralized or matrixed environments.
- Strong strategic thinking, execution discipline, business judgment, analytical capability, and results-oriented leadership skills.
- Customer-focused and market-driven approach, with the ability to develop differentiated technology and solutions based on evolving customer needs.
- Experience in K-12 education, campus safety, critical communications, life safety, security technology, emergency management, or related technology markets is preferred.
- Understanding of software-enabled solutions, connected technologies, communications platforms, IoT-based systems, or comparable technology ecosystems is preferred.
- Experience working with channel partners, consultants, systems integrators, or technology ecosystems serving education or institutional customers is an advantage.
- Experience in decentralized, growth-oriented industrial technology organizations or regulated, highly customer-centric markets is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 40% for customer, partner, and business-location visits.
