Job Description

Junior Compliance Officer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Junior Compliance Officer based in India.

This role offers the opportunity to combine legal expertise with technology to help make complex international compliance requirements actionable and scalable. You will join a specialized Compliance Tech team focused on translating employment, tax, social security, and data protection regulations into precise automated logic. Your work will directly influence the accuracy of compliance assessments delivered to clients across international markets. You will audit and refine rules, monitor regulatory changes, and ensure every update remains traceable and reliable. The position requires exceptional attention to detail alongside curiosity about technology and AI-assisted tools. It is an ideal environment for an early-career legal professional who wants to apply legal knowledge in a modern, international, technology-driven setting.

Accountabilities:

As a Junior Compliance Officer, you will help transform complex legal and regulatory requirements into precise, executable rules while maintaining the accuracy and reliability of automated compliance assessments. You will work across Compliance, Technology, Product, and Operations teams and take ownership of your tasks from research through implementation and validation.

  • Build, maintain, and optimize legal rules within the compliance platform to support automated compliance assessments.
  • Analyze labour law, employment law, corporate or wage tax, social security, and data protection regulations.
  • Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, structured, and executable decision logic.
  • Audit existing compliance rules and refine them for accuracy, simplicity, and appropriate granularity.
  • Monitor international regulatory developments and identify changes that require updates to existing rules.
  • Ensure regulatory logic remains current, accurate, and aligned with its underlying legal sources.
  • Maintain compliance databases, procedures, documentation, and supporting materials.
  • Ensure every rule and regulatory change is traceable to its legal source and appropriately documented.
  • Apply rigorous review standards to identify edge cases, thresholds, conditions, and potential ambiguities before rules are implemented.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Product, and Operations teams to align compliance logic with user needs and operational requirements.
  • Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate legal research and drafting while independently verifying all AI-generated content.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of assigned tasks and proactively resolve issues in a fast-moving environment.
  • Contribute to scalable processes that allow complex international compliance requirements to be managed efficiently.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an early-career legal professional with strong analytical capabilities, exceptional attention to detail, and a genuine interest in technology. You should be comfortable interpreting complex regulations, expressing legal requirements precisely, and learning new digital tools without needing to be a programmer.

  • 1–2 years of relevant legal experience, ideally in labour law, corporate or wage tax, social security, or data protection.
  • Strong legal traineeship experience may also be considered.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • German language skills are a strong plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and a zero-tolerance approach to inaccuracies.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Genuine interest in technology and confidence navigating new software platforms and digital tools.
  • Ability to express complex legal requirements through precise rules, conditions, and decision logic.
  • No programming background is required, but you should be comfortable learning technology and working with structured logic.
  • Practical experience using AI tools for research, drafting, or analysis, combined with the discipline to independently verify their outputs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to clarify complex requirements and respond effectively to questions and inquiries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Adaptable and open-minded approach to combining legal expertise with technology.
  • Enthusiasm for working with multicultural and international teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary.
  • VSOPs (Virtual Stock Options) to participate in the company's success.
  • €200 monthly budget for coworking space and/or sports subscriptions.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Ability to work from anywhere within the applicable employment framework.
  • Workations of up to 183 days per year.
  • Trust-based working culture with flexibility to organize your own schedule.
  • Results-focused environment that emphasizes outcomes rather than hours worked.
  • Merit-based culture with substantial opportunities for professional growth.
  • Collaborative international team where employees can contribute ideas and shape processes.
  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of law, compliance, technology, and AI.
  • Exposure to international employment, tax, social security, and data protection regulations.
  • Opportunity to develop specialized expertise in automated compliance and legal decision logic.
