Veterinary Assistant, Surgery
Valley Veterinary Emergency & Referral Center is a 24/7 award-winning veterinary hospital seeking experienced Licensed Veterinary Technicians. Our center is a newly renovated, 13,000+ square foot facility with dedicated staff and state-of-the-art equipment (like digital radiography and endoscopy) to offer the highest level of emergency and critical care.

Position Overview:
Valley Veterinary Emergency & Referral Center is a 24/7 award-winning veterinary hospital seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant. Our center is a newly renovated, 13,000+ square foot facility with dedicated staff and state-of-the-art equipment (like digital radiography and endoscopy) to offer the highest level of emergency and critical care.
Minimum of 2 years' experience required.

Schedule:
- 3/ 12- hour shifts per week
Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities:
- Properly restrain animals.
- Obtain a thorough history from pet owner.
- Accurately measure and record each patient's weight and basic vitals (temp, pulse rate, and respiratory rate).
- Assist in anesthesia induction and patient prep for surgical procedures
- Clean and prep surgical packs and supplies
- Efficiently set up, turn over and break down OR and prep areas
- Understand triage and follow hospital policies regarding critical patients.
- Using aseptic procedures, draw up injections for doctors or technicians to administer.
- Properly package and store samples as needed.
- Assist with routine exam room procedures.
- Monitor patients' behavior.
- Maintain a positive attitude, work well and collaboratively as a team. be able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to multitask and produce efficiently under a heavy workload.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and alert supervisor of items that are running low.
- Maintain adequate interdepartmental communications regarding patient care and client issues.
