Job Description
We’re looking for an Architectural Designer to join our in-house Development Services team and help bring projects to life from early concepts through construction.
This role is a great fit for someone with 2–5 years of experience who enjoys both design and technical work, wants exposure to the full project lifecycle, and is looking to grow within a collaborative, in-house environment.
You’ll work alongside our internal team and external partners on commercial, residential, and office projects, contributing at multiple stages and gaining hands-on experience that goes beyond a traditional single-phase role.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in developing schematic designs for new construction and renovation projects
- Create drawings and visual materials to communicate design ideas
- Support coordination with internal teams and external consultants on code, zoning, ADA, structural, and MEP requirements
- Contribute to the preparation and organization of construction documentation
- Assist with material and system selections aligned with project goals and budgets
- Participate in site visits to support project progress and coordination
- Help respond to RFIs and provide design support during construction
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across development, construction, and operations
- Support early-stage planning and site evaluation efforts
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
- Approximately 2–5 years of experience in architectural design and documentation
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with SketchUp, Adobe Suite, and Excel
- Working knowledge of building codes and construction documentation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute across different phases of a project
- Interest in working across a variety of project types (residential, commercial, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to visit project sites as needed
Nice to have (but not required)
- Progress toward architectural licensure
- Exposure to construction administration or site coordination
Work Environment
This role is primarily based in our Champaign office, with regular collaboration and site visits. You’ll work closely with our internal development, construction, and property management teams, along with external consultants and partners.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary - $70,000-$90,000 annually**

**The salary range listed for this position represents the range of compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
All hiring is contingent on eligibility to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or transfer visas for this position.
The pay range for this role is:
70,000 - 90,000 USD per year(616G )
