Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor of Operations- Damage Prevention based in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for overseeing company Line Locators in the identifying, mapping, locating, and marking of underground facilities using mapping programs, electronic detection equipment, and utility maps, staying in communication with contractors. In addition, coordinate and assist Operations in assessing locations for a need to repair, modify, and install locate points complying with industry standards, regulatory policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Responsible for supervising a locate team in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws pertaining to hiring; determining department procedures; assigning and directing work; providing training; appraising performance; rewarding and providing positive corrective action when needed; resolving employee issues; providing input and reports for department budget.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- When needed, assist in Locating and marking underground distribution system for contractors and others performing excavation work using appropriate locating equipment.Monitoring and Tracking GPS footage/mapping of untoneables to ensure locating equipment is being utilized properly and when needed.Monitoring Positive Response program.Complete Locator Performance Evaluations.Ensure all locators are within Compliance/811 Laws, and OQ requirements.Attend Pre-Construction Meetings and relay information to the locating team.Schedule Excavation training as needed. Work with outside and internal contractors and internal personnel to reduce facility damage.Ensure all RTK/Line Locating Issues and all other training needs are met.Conduct In house Load Leveling, Field Audits, and Ticket Audits on company locators.Manage the in-house Polygons.Ensure all Regulatory Audit needs are met.Ensure Damage Investigations are correct. Responsible for mentoring and coaching team members and aiding in their professional development.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Requires a high school diploma or the equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and percentages), punctuation, grammar and spelling.Preferred candidate will have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in one of the following: gas and/or electric operations, locating, accounting, engineering or related field. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for up to four (4) years of experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Provide a valid state driver's license and present and maintain a good driving record and to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.Manage the installation, repair and maintenance of gas mains, services, stations, and/or small/large meter loops.Demonstrate knowledge of Company policies, procedures, processes and all regulations and rules related to pipeline operations.Manage multiple projects and priorities.Respond well to changing priorities.Solve operations problems with logical solutions.Demonstrate leadership skills and produce results through others while maintaining a high level of morale.Motivate self, accomplish tasks and achieve goals with minimal supervision including self-directed learning.Exercise discretion, tact, and good judgment in dealing with customers, the public, vendors and employees.Utilize mainframe systems and personal computer software proficiently such as electronic mail, spreadsheets, and word processing.Demonstrate and utilize excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and listening ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and co-workers.Able to work well independently or in a team-based environment to accomplish assignments and achieve objectives.Demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses and do so timely.Demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company’s values and business practices and do both consistently.
