Job Title: Security Officer
Position Scope: The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all residents, associates, visitors, and the Symphony Park property at all times.
Reports to: Executive Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Monitors and patrols the community property, common areas, parking lots, and building entrances and exits to ensure safety and security.
· Greets and screens visitors, vendors, and contractors at entry points and ensures all sign-in procedures are followed.
· Responds promptly to security incidents, resident emergencies, and alarms; contacts emergency services as appropriate.
· Monitors security cameras and access control systems throughout the shift.
· Investigates and documents security incidents, accidents, or unusual occurrences and reports findings to management.
· Assists with elopement prevention protocols and responds immediately to wandering or missing resident alerts.
· Maintains a visible, professional presence to deter unauthorized access and promote a sense of safety among residents and staff.
· Conducts fire safety checks and assists with fire drills and emergency evacuation procedures.
· Coordinates with the on-call manager and emergency services during critical incidents.
· Maintains accurate and detailed security logs for each shift.
· Supports the mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.
· Maintains and protects the confidentiality of resident information.
· Communicates any observed or suspected resident change in condition to a supervisor immediately.
· Maintains a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests, following established safety standards.
· Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments. Supports a positive and professional image through actions and dress.
· Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as required.
· Other duties as assigned by your director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Prior security, law enforcement, military, or related experience preferred.
· Security guard license or certification as required by state law.
· CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
· Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
· Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
· Experience working with seniors preferred.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Walk/Stand – must be able to continuously walk and stand.
- Environment Condition – must be able to perform work both inside and outside.
- Sit – sit infrequently.
- Lift - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds.
- Carry - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds.
- Push - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds.
- Climb – must be able to climb stairs on a frequent basis, with the opportunity to utilize the elevator as an alternate resource if available.
- Bend – must be able to bend at the waist, knees, hips and spine on a frequent basis, may require frequently manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
- Squat – must be able to squat on a frequent basis to reach below the knee, may require lifting of 50 pounds or less.
- Twist or rotate – must be able to twist or rotate occasionally at the trunk, hips, knees, and neck while, manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
- Reach– must be able to reach on a frequent basis. May occasionally reach overhead, requiring manipulation of weight of 10 pounds or less, and below waist manipulating weight of 25 pounds or more.
- Sensory Vision – must be able to read clearly with or without corrective lenses.
- Hear - Must be able to hear telephone, audible alarms, bells and signals related to resident safety with or without hearing devices.
- Speech/Language – must have strong command of English sufficient to read and write and interpret administration information.
