The Assistant Athletics Director & Business Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the financial, administrative, and business functions within the Department of Athletics. This position is supported in managing departmental budgets, financial reporting, procurement, compliance, and operational planning. The Assistant Athletics Director & Business Manager ensures fiscal accountability, operational efficiency, and compliance with institutional, conference, NCAA, and regulatory guidelines while supporting student-athlete success and departmental excellence.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and administration of departmental operating and capital budgets.
- Prepare financial reports, budget forecasts, audits, and related documentation for university leadership and external agencies.
- Ensure compliance with university financial policies, NCAA regulations, and applicable federal and state requirements.
- Coordinate vendor relationships, contracts, procurement activities, and payment processing.
- Support game operations, athletic events, travel coordination, and scheduling activities.
- Coordinate administrative support for coaches, athletic staff, and student-athletes.
- Assist with onboarding, payroll coordination, timekeeping, and personnel documentation for athletic department staff and student workers.
- Serve as a liaison between Athletics, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, and other university departments.
- Assist in developing operational procedures and business practices that improve efficiency and accountability.
- Provide leadership and support for special projects, events, and departmental initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in athletics administration, business operations, finance, or higher education administration.
- Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and operational management.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
