Job Description
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented, and goal-driven Phlebotomist to join our team in Opelika, AL. In this role, you'll play a vital part in the blood donation process by ensuring donors have a safe, positive, and professional donation experience while helping provide lifesaving blood products to patients in need.
What You'll Do- Perform phlebotomies and collect blood from donors according to LifeSouth Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Collect blood using automated instruments (apheresis) once training is completed
- Register donors in the LifeSouth computer system (IBBIS)
- Determine donor eligibility through the donor interview and physical assessment process
- Accurately identify donors throughout every step of the donation process
- Assist with donor recruitment, tele-recruitment, and donor rescheduling efforts
- Educate and convert donors to automated collection technology when appropriate
- Maintain compliance with LifeSouth policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain LifeSouth driver eligibility requirements
- Proficiency with computer software applications and technology
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent customer service and teamwork skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- CDL holders preferred; additional compensation available

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. We are committed to meeting the blood supply needs of hospitals and their patients by providing the highest quality blood components and services. With more than 45 donor centers, 55 bloodmobiles and 2,000 blood drives a month, our LifeSouth team is dedicated to making sure the blood is there when you or your family is in need.

To provide a safe blood supply that meets or exceeds the needs in each community we serve, and to provide a variety of services in support of ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion related activities.
