Description

The Reliability Lab Technician II partners with Equipment Technicians, Process Engineers, and Management to support efficient and high-quality lab operations with some assistance or instruction. This role is focused on optimizing equipment performance and throughput, reducing cycle times, and minimizing unplanned downtime. The Reliability Lab Technician II works on semi-routine assignments with the ability to recognize deviations from accepted practices and acts as a quality agent. The Reliability Lab Technician II is also responsible for monitoring and maintaining critical environmental conditions within the work area including temperature, humidity, and particle counts to ensure a controlled and compliant lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex equipment setups that other operators may not be qualified to perform; demonstrates intermediate understanding of lab tools with some outside assistance and oversight.
  • Operates production equipment as time and production needs arise; monitors operations for quality and process compliance.
  • Monitors throughput and cycle time in the area; identifies deviations from targets and escalates issues to the appropriate parties to ensure area goals are met.
  • Maintains the quality of work being performed in the area; applies sound judgment to recognize deviations from accepted practices and keeps team on track.
  • Addresses equipment downtime issues with the appropriate parties (Equipment Technician, Process Engineering, Management, etc.) to maximize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE); works on semi-routine assignments with increasing independence.
  • Coordinates and performs training for new employees; sets up, maintains, and audits employee training records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitors the environment of the work area (temperature, humidity, particle counts, etc.), ensures compliance to specifications, and escalates out-of-spec conditions.
  • Coordinates housekeeping activities to maintain a safe, clean work environment, ensuring the maintenance of adequate stock of consumables and supplies required in the area.
  • Performs scheduled and preventive maintenance of various equipment; documents findings and flags recurring issues for follow-up.
  • Serves as a member on cross-functional project teams.
  • Must be able to handle several active projects at one time (multitask) with some assistance or instruction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required; Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Semiconductor Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
  • A minimum of 3 to 4 years' experience in semiconductor manufacturing or a similar industry.
  • Intermediate understanding of how to read and interpret Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts; ability to recognize trends and deviations and take appropriate action.
  • Proven skills:

o Strong work ethic and a quality-first mindset; ability to recognize deviations from accepted practices and act as a quality agent.

o High attention to detail; must be very organized, apply sound reasoning, make timely decisions, analyze issues, and develop solutions.

o Ability to direct the work of others with some supervision.

o Excellent visual acuity.

o Proficiency with computers and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); familiarity with lab or manufacturing software systems a plus.

o Ability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks; self-starter with some supervision.

o Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

o Ability to learn to operate new tools with minimal training.

o Ability to process documents and keep meticulous records; ensures data accuracy and integrity.

o Ability to organize and maintain a safe and clean workplace.

o A high degree of hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity is required (must be able to manipulate small, delicate samples with small tweezers while observing under a microscope).

o Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9120 or TS16949 is a plus.
