Job Description
Schedule: Monday through Thursday 3:00pm - 2:30am
Position Summary
The Material Processing Supervisor at Quality Electrical Systems leads a team within the Structural Welding department responsible for preparing steel components for fabrication, including abrasive blasting, raw material cutting, and other preprocessing operations. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards while supporting production schedules. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who values safety, quality, continuous improvement, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
• Supervise personnel operating abrasive blasting equipment and band saws to prepare steel components for fabrication
• Plan, prioritize, and monitor daily production activities to meet schedule, quality, and productivity objectives
• Coordinate with production planning and inventory personnel to ensure materials are available to support fabrication schedules
• Read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and work orders
• Inspect parts for quality, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy
• Ensure material identification and traceability are maintained throughout the material processing operation
• Ensure routine preventative maintenance is completed and coordinate repairs when equipment issues arise
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Follow and enforce all safety procedures, including proper PPE use and compliance
• Train and mentor new machine operators
• Lead the QES Operating Model (QOM) within the team by conducting daily huddles, maintaining performance boards, engaging employees in problem solving, and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery.
• Assist other shop operations as needed

Qualifications
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, bill of materials, and cut lists
• Experience with abrasive blasting and band saw operation
• Ability to safely handle steel material using overhead cranes and forklifts, along with training personnel
• 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred
• Experience leading manufacturing teams and coordinating production schedules preferred

• Familiarity with structural steel fabrication
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to quality, dimensional accuracy, and material traceability

• Strict safety compliance
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
