- 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care, supervision, and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and behavioral health needs in community-based residential settings. This role is responsible for promoting safety, independence, community inclusion, and person-centered outcomes while assisting individuals in achieving goals outlined in their Individual Support Plans (ISP).
The DSP works collaboratively with clinical and program staff to implement support strategies, encourage positive behaviors, and assist individuals with daily living activities and community participation.
Essential Responsibilities- Provide supervision and support in accordance with each individual's ISP and person-centered support plans.
- Assist individuals in working toward identified goals and desired outcomes.
- Support activities of daily living, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, toileting, and household tasks.
- Administer medications in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide transportation to appointments, activities, and other community-based services as needed.
- Assist individuals with community integration, including access to healthcare, social services, recreational activities, and community resources.
- Promote healthy, socially appropriate, and independent behaviors.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email, electronic timekeeping systems, and other software applications required for documentation and communication.
- Ability to successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, including criminal background checks and FBI clearance, if applicable.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in human services, direct support, behavioral health, or a related caregiving role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable approach to supporting others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to person-centered care and community inclusion.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
