SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the nurse supervisor is responsible for creating work schedules, giving performance reviews, and developing work policies. Other job duties include keeping up established ethical and legal standards for job performance, attending administrative personnel meetings, and developing new employee training. The work of a nurse supervisor is split between administrative duties and being on the floor working directly with clients. The nurse supervisor works to strengthen SFRC's integrity by ensuring the medical policies, procedures, and systems are adhered to and in compliance with applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee medical operations in the different residential and detox programs and ensures high quality of client care; includes program development that focuses on the principles of recovery and resiliency, evidence-based and promising practices, and community/culturally defined standards.
  • Oversee the operations and functioning of staff, deal with personnel issues, and address any concerns the team has.
  • Focus on strategic management of personnel, patient care, and resources, while also upholding and supporting regulatory policies.
  • Develop, research, and maintain training for medical staff on cultural competency, trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and other appropriate courses to assist in the care of the clients and team.
  • Ensure that electronic medical records, including individual medical information and required billing documentation, are recorded and conducted in compliance with all ethical and legal standards.
  • Provide ongoing, documented medical direction to the Med-Tech and Nursing staff through coaching, mentoring, and strength-based support.
  • Attend seminars and workshops as necessary to ensure compliance and fidelity with new and existing evidence-based modalities and treatment approaches utilized by SFRC.
  • Understand and maintain HIPAA and 42CFR Part 2 confidentiality standards relative to SFRC.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with State and Federal law, the counseling code of ethics, and SFRC policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties as assigned

SPECIAL SKILLS:

  1. Effective oral and written communication skills with clients and staff.
  2. Computer experience, knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn Access, Word, and electronic medical records.
  3. Ability to solve unexpected problems as they arise while considering liability, precedence, programmatic implications, and other possible future impacts on the program, services, or organization.
  4. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and direct medical care within the residential program assigned.
  5. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. BSN or equivalent experience preferred.
  2. The ability to respectfully engage and develop a working alliance with the people we are serving is essential.
  3. Ability to advocate and effectively communicate and problem solve under pressure in high-stress situations.
  4. Familiarity with other community-based organizations and continuum of care.
  5. Works well with diverse populations.
  6. Must have and maintain a current, valid NM Driver’s License. Must also have and maintain a clean driving record, as well as auto insurance.
  7. Must be able to pass a New Mexico criminal background check.
