Position Summary:
The Wire Transfers & Payments Specialist for Security Bank of Kansas City is responsible for the accurate, timely, and secure processing of domestic and international wire transfers, electronic payments, and related banking transactions. This position is ideal for an early-career professional or someone transitioning into financial operations. This position serves as a key operational resource for customers, lenders, relationship managers, and Retail personnel while ensuring transactions comply with Bank policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable payment-network rules.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Process incoming and outgoing domestic and international wire transfers accurately within established deadlines.
- Review wire requests for completeness, authorization, account information, and adherence to Bank policies and procedures.
- Verify customer and transaction information and perform required callbacks or authentication procedures.
- Monitor and manage wire queues, exceptions, rejects, returns, and corrections.
- Research and resolve wire discrepancies and payment-related inquiries.
- Process wire amendments, cancellations, recalls, and returns in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Coordinate with correspondent banks, financial institutions, banking centers, third-party vendors, and customers to resolve payment issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and transactions records.
- Process and monitor various electronic payment transactions which may include ACH, internal transfers, official checks, cashier’s checks, FedNow, RTP, and other payment services offered by the Bank.
- Review transactions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established controls.
- Research and resolve ACH returns, exceptions, rejects, and other payment discrepancies.
- Assist with payment investigations, adjustments, and customer inquiries.
- Meet daily processing deadlines and service-level expectations.
- Follow established procedures designed to prevent fraud, errors, and unauthorized transactions.
- Review transactions for potential fraud, unusual activity, or other risk indicators and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Follow applicable requirements related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality and safeguard customer and Bank information.
- Complete required documentation and maintain appropriate audit trails.
- Provide professional and responsive service to customers and Bank employees regarding wire transfers and payment services.
- Additional duties/tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 0-2 years of banking, financial services, deposit operations, payment processing, or related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of domestic and/or international wire transfers, ACH, and other electronic payments strongly desired.
Valued, but not required skills & experience:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet time-sensitive processing deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and wire payment platforms.
- Strong customer service orientation with ability to handle sensitive issues professionally.

- Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is inside a central heat and air-conditioned office building. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.
