Mechanical Engineer in Thief River Falls, Minnesota at Arctic Cat

Arctic Cat in Thief River falls is hiring a Mechanical Engineer. This individual will be responsible for designing and developing accessories and components for Arctic Cat snow and off-road products. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of manufacturing and quality control processes, including plastic injection molding, blow molding, metal stampings, and welded assemblies. A strong understanding of powersports products and their design requirements is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop various accessory components and systems for powersports vehicle platforms.
• Develop and release engineering component and assembly drawings utilizing Utilize 3D modeling software (Siemens NX).
• Assist in the development and accuracy of Bills of Material (BOMs) and Engineering Change Notice (ECNs).
• Select materials based on functional and cost-based criteria and develop into manufacturing methods for plastic parts.
• Coordinate fabrication of prototype parts within the Engineering Proto shop or external supplier. Assemble prototype parts to review or test the designs.
• Create appropriate test and validation plans for new and revised designs and monitor to ensure performance that meets or exceed the design requirements.
• Understand and apply GD&T for tolerance analysis and drawing creation.
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve test issues to document solutions.
• Perform cross functional design reviews and Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) assessments on components and assemblies.
• Support elements of quality assurance and PPAP process requirements.
• Support the development of service manuals and part books.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related curriculum required
• Years of Experience: 2 or more years of experience
• Software Knowledge: proficient CAD software (NX / Solidworks / ProE / CATIA) required, Siemens NX-UG preferred. Microsoft Office applications, MRP, ERP, SAP, Teamcenter
• Understanding of various manufacturing processes including Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Thermo-Forming, Roto- Molding, metal stampings, welding, and metal fabrication.
