Job Description

Director of Outpatient Cardiology Practices

The Director of Outpatient Cardiology Practices provides strategic, operational, financial, and clinicalworkflow leadership for all ambulatory cardiology locations, including general cardiology clinics, EP clinics, structural heart clinics, heart failure clinics, diagnostic cardiology (echo, ECG, stress), and advanced cardiac access operations. This role ensures highquality patient care, efficient clinic operations, strong access performance, and consistent patient experience across the cardiology ambulatory enterprise.

The Director of Specialty Practices reports directly to the Senior Director of Practice Operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 - 7 years of progressive leadership experience in ambulatory or clinical operations.
  • Strong financial insight and experience with productivity, budgeting and KPI management.
  • Ability to lead change, improve workflows, and enhance patient experience.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem solving.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

Operational Leadership & Standardization

  • Oversee daily operations for all cardiology outpatient clinics and diagnostic cardiology services.
  • Ensure consistent workflows, policies, and patient experience across all sites.
  • Implement standardized rooming, triage, documentation, and resultsmanagement workflows.
  • Maintain regulatory readiness across all ambulatory cardiology areas.

Access, Scheduling & Capacity Optimization

  • Own access metrics for cardiology clinics, echo, ECG, stress testing, and EP followups.
  • Optimize provider templates, diagnostic schedules, and clinic capacity to meet demand.
  • Reduce noshow rates through workflow redesign, reminder systems, and patient engagement strategies.
  • Partner with centralized scheduling to ensure timely appointment availability and accurate triage.

Clinical Quality, Safety & Performance

  • Support cardiology quality initiatives (CHF readmissions, CAD management, arrhythmia followup, diagnostic accuracy).
  • Oversee workflows supporting safe, highquality ambulatory cardiac care (triage, results management, procedural prep).
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, APPs, and nursing leadership to improve outcomes and care coordination.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Manage budgets, productivity, staffing models, and financial performance for outpatient cardiology.
  • Track KPIs including visit volumes, diagnostic volumes, RVUs, overtime, supply utilization, and device/implant costs.
  • Implement costcontrol strategies and operational efficiencies across clinics and diagnostic areas.
  • Support capital planning for cardiology equipment and technology.

Patient Experience & Communication

  • Improve patient experience across cardiology clinics and diagnostic services.
  • Enhance communication pathways for previsit instructions, postvisit followup, and care coordination.
  • Resolve escalated patient concerns and lead service recovery efforts.
  • Ensure culturally competent, patientcentered care across all sites.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 30 lb., lift/move 20 lb. from floor to table, and be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations requiring hand-eye coordination such as patient care and use of computers and complex equipment. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time, in addition to being able to walk for a reasonable length of time and distance. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to read the English language.

Salary Range: $54.01-86.42 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
