Job Description
Summary: The Service Technician is responsible for performing major and minor repairs and planned and scheduled maintenance and inspections on all material handling equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Repair (70%-75%)
Planned Maintenance (25%-30%) Maintain Service Van and Inventory (0%-5%) |
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Minimum two years of experience with electrical/electronic systems, hydraulics, and internal combustion engines, and a minimum of two years of experience working with common hand tools, electrical/air tools, torch, arc welder, and various types of testing equipment preferred. Industry-related training and/or a minimum one year of prior related experience preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid State Driver’s License, forklift certificate, and successful completion of Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical test.
Language Ability
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics. Ability to read and understand service manuals. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
