Murphy Machine is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Brown & Sharpe Automatic Screw Machine Setup Technician. This position is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines to produce precision machined components.

The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, experience with machining equipment, and the ability to perform basic machine setups and adjustments to maintain production quality and efficiency.

• Set up and adjust Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines for production runs.
• Install and change tooling, including cutting tools, drills, and collets.
• Read and interpret basic blueprints, work instructions, and setup sheets.
• Make machine adjustments to maintain proper dimensions and tolerances.
• Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
• Troubleshoot basic machine and tooling issues.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
• Work with production supervisors, operators, quality technicians, and other team members to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines preferred.
• Basic understanding of machining processes, tooling, and machine setups.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely handle tools and materials.

• Experience setting up Brown & Sharpe single-spindle automatic screw machines.
• Familiarity with cam-driven machining equipment.
• Experience working in a precision manufacturing or machine shop environment.
