Job Description

About the role
Nonprofit customers count on Daxko to keep their books accurate, and you’ll be the person who helps them get there. You’ll bring nonprofit accounting expertise to project-based work with customers, solve complex financial issues, and may manage a portfolio of customers with ongoing financial needs. You’ll also share what you know across Daxko so every team can better serve the nonprofits we work with.

What you’ll do
  • Consult with nonprofit customers and internal teams on general ledger and chart of accounts setup, so customers get accurate accounting and useful financial and management reporting.
  • Own complex customer issues involving financial data or accounting functionality, such as aged receivable, accounts payable, or budget discrepancies. Find the root cause and coordinate the fix with Technical Services, Product, Engineering, Payments, or other teams.
  • Partner with customers to understand their financial reporting needs and turn them into reports that work.
  • Guide customers moving from cash-basis to accrual-basis accounting. Assess their readiness, identify the clean-up needed before conversion, and support post-conversion reconciliation and revenue recognition questions.
  • Bring the nonprofit accounting perspective to cross-functional payment processing and reconciliation meetings.
  • Build accounting knowledge across Daxko by creating training and documentation with the Customer Experience and Enablement team.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures and help center articles with the Customer Experience and Enablement team.

What you’ll bring
  • 4 to 6 years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical skills and a track record of finding the root cause of complex financial discrepancies.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and a customer-first approach.
  • Strong organization and time management, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort learning and using complex software, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to have
  • Experience with YMCAs, JCCs, Boys & Girls Clubs, or similar membership-based organizations.
  • Experience providing services to multiple organizations in a shared services model.
  • Familiarity with Daxko Operations and Daxko Accounting.
  • 5 to 8 years of nonprofit accounting experience.
