Job Description

GlassPoint helps heavy industry decarbonize by replacing fuel-based steam with solar thermal heat. This reduces energy costs and improves long-term energy security. We’re a proven technology, already operating some of the world’s largest solar steam projects across sun-belt regions in oil and gas, metals, and mining.

Help Accelerate Industrial Decarbonization

Join exceptional people from around the world to solve some of the world's toughest energy challenges, make a real impact, and enjoy the adventure of building the future of industrial decarbonization together.

As our Design Engineer, you will play an important role in transforming our solar-thermal technology into precise, practical designs that can be manufactured and assembled efficiently.

Working closely with Structural Engineering, Mechanical Design, and Operations, you will create detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings for our parabolic trough collectors and enclosure structures. You will also help develop assembly concepts, strengthen our design standards, and build scalable CAD and planning processes.

Your Impact

The designs and manufacturing documentation you create will become part of some of the world’s largest industrial solar-thermal plants—helping heavy industry reduce emissions while improving energy security.

You’ll turn complex engineering concepts into accurate, manufacturable solutions and work alongside exceptional colleagues to continuously improve the quality, reliability, and scalability of GlassPoint’s technology.

What You'll Do

Design Components and Assemblies

  • Develop and execute GlassPoint's European funding strategy aligned with our technology and commercial roadmap.
  • Identify, evaluate, and monitor European, national, and regional funding opportunities.
  • Assess project eligibility and recommend the most suitable funding mechanisms.
  • Maximize funding opportunities that accelerate technology deployment and commercial growth.

Support Manufacturing and Assembly

  • Lead competitive grant applications from concept to submission.
  • Coordinate technical, commercial, and financial contributions across cross-functional teams.
  • Build strategic partnerships with customers, universities, research institutions, funding agencies, and consortium partners.
  • Develop compelling proposals, project plans, budgets, and funding strategies.

Shape our Design Processes

  • Manage the complete grant lifecycle from award through reporting and final audit.
  • Monitor milestones, budgets, funding utilization, compliance, and project performance.
  • Prepare technical and financial reports while ensuring successful project delivery.

Who You Are

You’re someone who enjoys turning complex engineering concepts into precise, practical designs.

You combine strong technical expertise with a hands-on mindset and careful attention to detail. You work independently while collaborating closely with engineering and operations colleagues, and you enjoy helping shape the processes and standards needed to turn ambitious ideas into manufacturable solutions.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A degree, vocational qualification or equivalent technical training in mechanical design, technical product design or a comparable field.
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in mechanical engineering, steel construction or plant engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D CAD systems, ideally Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Experience creating manufacturing documents, assembly drawings and dimensional drawings.
  • A solid understanding of general engineering principles, particularly mechanical engineering and steel construction.
  • Basic knowledge of 2D AutoCAD would be an advantage.
  • A structured and independent working style, combined with strong attention to detail.
  • The curiosity and ownership to help shape processes in a growing international company.
  • Strong English skills; German language skills are a significant advantage.
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for turning technical ideas into practical solutions.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and participate in on-site prototype assembly.
What You'll Find at GlassPoint
  • Meaningful responsibility from day one and the opportunity to make a real impact.
  • Exceptional colleagues from diverse disciplines who challenge, support, and learn from each other.
  • Complex challenges that require curiosity, collaboration, and innovation.
  • An international team united by a shared purpose and ambitious goals.
  • The adventure of helping build the future of industrial decarbonization.
