Senior Technical Recruiter, Engineering & Architecture

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Technical Recruiter, Engineering & Architecture based in Canada.

This is a remote senior recruiting role focused on hiring engineers, architects, and other specialized technical professionals across complex and highly competitive talent markets. You will manage searches spanning architecture, engineering, construction, infrastructure, technology, and professional services, supporting teams across multiple business units and locations. The role places a strong emphasis on proactive sourcing, passive candidate engagement, and long-term relationship building. You will develop deep knowledge of the technical disciplines you recruit for, including credentials, project experience, and market dynamics. You will also use recruiting data and market insights to continuously refine sourcing strategies and improve pipeline performance. Working closely with Talent Acquisition, HR, compensation, hiring managers, and business leaders, you will play a visible role in supporting continued organizational growth.

Accountabilities:
  • Partner with the Recruiting HR Account Leader and relevant stakeholders to understand workforce needs, prioritize searches, and develop effective recruiting approaches for technical and engineering teams.
  • Manage the full recruiting lifecycle, including proactive sourcing, candidate screening, interview coordination, candidate communication, offer support, closing, and acceptance, while maintaining a professional and engaging candidate experience.
  • Build and maintain proactive talent pipelines ahead of hiring demand, with particular focus on difficult-to-fill technical disciplines, specialized skill sets, and challenging geographic markets.
  • Develop creative sourcing strategies that extend beyond traditional channels, using Boolean search, referrals, professional associations, competitor research, geographic talent mapping, LinkedIn Recruiter, and other talent-intelligence resources.
  • Identify, approach, and engage passive technical professionals through personalized and credible outreach, building relationships that can support both immediate and future hiring requirements.
  • Conduct thorough candidate assessments covering technical discipline and project experience, professional credentials, client exposure, leadership capabilities, career motivations, compensation expectations, and overall suitability for the opportunity.
  • Present qualified and diverse candidate slates with clear recommendations, relevant market context, and insights that help hiring leaders make informed decisions.
  • Monitor recruiting metrics such as response rates, conversion rates, and pipeline health to assess sourcing effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and adjust strategies based on market feedback.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records within the applicant tracking system while ensuring search activity, candidate progress, and pipeline information remain up to date.
  • Collaborate effectively with Talent Acquisition, HR, compensation teams, and business leadership across multiple offices, disciplines, leadership styles, and time zones to maintain search momentum and deliver hiring outcomes.
Requirements
  • Five or more years of recruiting experience within AEC, engineering consulting, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, or another technical industry, with demonstrated experience supporting specialized professional hiring.
  • Proven success sourcing and hiring passive, hard-to-find technical professionals across multiple disciplines, using approaches such as LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search, referrals, professional associations, competitor research, and talent-market mapping.
  • Fluency in both French and English is required, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build credibility with candidates and stakeholders in both languages.
  • Ability to quickly understand technical positions and translate business requirements into focused and effective sourcing and search strategies.
  • Strong experience building proactive talent pipelines, assessing candidates, managing relationships throughout the recruiting process, and successfully supporting offers through acceptance.
  • Working knowledge of technical and professional credentials such as P.Eng, ing, PL, EIT, RA, Arch, LEED, CxA, and other discipline-specific certifications, or the ability to learn specialized credential requirements quickly.
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems, LinkedIn Recruiter, sourcing platforms, and talent-intelligence tools, combined with the ability to use recruiting data to guide decisions.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, maintain consistent follow-through, and keep searches moving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment and confidence to constructively challenge assumptions, communicate market realities, and recommend alternative approaches when hiring conditions or talent availability require a change in strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining strong relationships with hiring managers and colleagues across multiple locations and time zones.
  • Genuine interest in engineering, architecture, and building systems, with the curiosity and initiative required to develop technical credibility with the professionals you recruit.
  • Ownership mindset, adaptability, accountability, and a direct yet respectful communication style, with the ability to adjust recruiting approaches based on data, candidate feedback, and changing market conditions.

  • Competitive base salary of $80,000–$90,000 CAD, with eligibility for a performance bonus. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, location, business needs, and internal equity.
