What You’ll Do
As an Cardiac Sonographer, you will report to the Director and/or Manager, Cardiovascular Diagnostics. You will perform cardiac ultrasound diagnostic testing in the form of trans-thoracic (rest/stress/pharmaceutical) and trans-esophageal echo/doppler testing. You will perform testing with our neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations.
Cardiac Sonographer Job Responsibilities:
- Perform and document diagnostic echocardiograms, including 2D, 3D, M-Mode, and Doppler studies.
- Prepare and educate patients, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Analyze imaging data, provide preliminary findings, and collaborate with cardiologists.
- Perform bedside cardiac ultrasound exams and respond to urgent clinical needs.
- Assist with scheduling, on-call coverage, and Echo Lab operations.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment, supplies, and departmental records.
- Support department goals through education, quality initiatives, and administrative tasks.
- Maintain required certifications, comply with safety and regulatory standards, and complete all mandatory training
What You Bring
As a Cardiac Sonographer this position requires expertise in cardiac ultrasound procedures, including the evaluation and analysis of echocardiography studies. The ideal candidate must possess strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, heart diseases, and cardiology operations, along with sound clinical judgment to assess patient conditions and prioritize workflow. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and families. The role also requires strong visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity to obtain and interpret high-quality diagnostic images.
Required Qualifications
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through successful completion of a high school diploma, continuing education in the form of college level courses and/or specialized technical training in cardiac ultrasound.
- Credentialing as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in adult and/or pediatric through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) with an active status is required.
- Registry eligible candidates may also be considered, however, completion of required credentialing must be completed within 2 years of employment.
- Basic EKG skills and knowledge of related cardiac testing is preferred.
