Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff SW Engineer, Full Stack in the United States.
This is a high-impact engineering role focused on building and scaling full-stack systems that power advanced geospatial intelligence and AI/ML-driven products. You will work at the intersection of satellite imagery, machine learning, and modern web applications to deliver mission-critical capabilities used for real-time decision-making. The role blends backend systems, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, and frontend development into a single end-to-end ownership scope. You will collaborate closely with machine learning, satellite operations, and imaging teams to turn complex geospatial data into usable, production-ready applications. Operating in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, you will contribute to systems that support global intelligence and situational awareness. This position is ideal for a senior engineer who thrives on autonomy, technical breadth, and solving complex distributed systems challenges.
In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack systems that power geospatial analytics and AI/ML applications. You will own the development of backend microservices in Python or Go, ensuring reliability, performance, and production readiness across cloud environments. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and deploying full-stack applications combining React-based frontends with robust backend services
- Building and maintaining cloud infrastructure using AWS services (e.g., EKS, S3, EC2, RDS/Aurora, SQS, SNS) and Kubernetes
- Designing and optimizing relational database schemas for geospatial, imagery, and analytics data (PostgreSQL-based systems)
- Supporting deployment and integration of computer vision and machine learning models into production systems
- Collaborating across satellite operations, image processing, and ML teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Leading full project lifecycles from requirements definition through deployment and ongoing optimization
- Driving technical strategy, system architecture decisions, and best practices for scalable software development
This role requires deep experience in full-stack engineering, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures, with strong exposure to data-heavy or geospatial environments. Candidates should be comfortable operating independently in complex technical domains and communicating effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Key qualifications include:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3+ years in full-stack development
- Strong proficiency in Python or Go for building production-grade microservices and APIs
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, and scalable system design
- Solid frontend development skills using React or similar frameworks with REST API integration
- Experience working with large-scale data systems, ETL pipelines, and relational databases (PostgreSQL)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance optimization, and production operations
- Exposure to geospatial data, satellite imagery, or machine learning/computer vision is highly preferred
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear insights
- U.S. citizenship or eligibility under ITAR requirements
- Competitive base salary (approx. $150,000–$175,000 depending on location and experience)
- Bonus eligibility, equity opportunities, and employee stock purchase program
- 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage (employee premiums)
- Generous PTO (15 days), company holidays, floating holidays, and volunteer day
- 401(k) with employer match (pre-tax and Roth options)
- Flexible spending accounts and health savings account options
- Parental leave and disability coverage (short-term and long-term)
- Remote flexibility (US-based, with some location constraints and occasional travel)
- Professional development support and access to modern engineering tools and environments.
