The Program Supervisor actively partners with community organizations and schools, working directly with volunteers, children, and families to create, support, and sustain high-volume, high-quality Big/Little matches while leading a team of Program Specialists. This role supports the matching process, ensures strong customer service standards are met—such as timely outreach, interview coordination, and completion of required documentation—and provides leadership and training to Program Specialists.

Day-to-Day job functions:

  • Act as a partner to schools, youth, and volunteers, helping to support the Big Little matching process.
  • Meet or exceed all customer service standards for contacting potential volunteers and youth applicants, scheduling/confirming interviews, and timely completion of necessary paperwork and documentation.
  • Provide leadership and training to a team of Program Specialists.
  • Follow all established best practices and SOPs regarding the use, data entry, and updates to our MatchForce system, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and grant requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with parent/child/volunteer applicants, write assessments and recommendations, and update all appropriate systems.
  • Conduct thorough reference checks for potential volunteers, ensuring accuracy and follow through.
  • Conduct orientation sessions and training for volunteers, youth, and families.
  • Cooperate in the coordination with all other agencies that may be involved in an assessment process, providing information as required.
  • Collaborate with team members across the organization as needed.
  • Actively support the agency’s mission to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
  • Additional responsibilities based on the needs of the organization.

Requirements/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of direct supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a nonprofit environment, preferably with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
  • Candidate must have a high school diploma/GED equivalent and meet one of the following criteria:
    • A documented bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university, in human service, social work, counselling, child development or related field. Or the candidate shall be within six months of degree completion.
    • A documented associate degree or two years of higher education experience, from an accredited college or university in human service, social work, counseling, child development, or related field. Plus, two years of relevant work experience in related fields.
    • Four years of relevant work experience in related fields, such as social work, counseling, social services, child development, or other related fields as defined by the agency.
  • Knowledge of grant requirements and ability to lead team to meet grant goals preferred, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with youth, parents, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
