Job Description

About Us

At Todyl, we are on a mission to protect small and medium-sized businesses from ever-changing cyber

threats. The Todyl platform fully integrates threat, risk, and compliance management to provide

exceptional and affordable unified cybersecurity solutions to MSPs (Managed Service Providers) and

their end customers.

At the end of the day, we're here to keep our partners and customers safe and help them manage the

risks and comply with regulations. Protecting others requires a team that works together with trust and

cares deeply about carrying out our mission.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented, self-directed, collaborative engineer who is deeply knowledgeable and

thrives when working across multiple stacks and technologies. This role owns the desktop agent

products, developing against Windows, macOS, and Linux system APIs — enhancing existing

functionality and building new security-focused features. The role is tightly integrated with other

engineering teams, with the opportunity to work end-to-end, from design to implementation, on large-

scale networking and security services.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and enhance networking and security functionality across proxy, DNS, VPN, firewall, routing, and related services.
  • Develop C/C++ data-plane components with attention to correctness, throughput, latency, and resource usage.
  • Build Go control-plane services, APIs, and tools for configuring and managing multitenant network services.
  • Implement configuration changes that can be validated, applied reliably, and diagnosed when something goes wrong.
  • Own well-scoped features and defects from investigation and design through implementation, automated testing, and release validation.
  • Diagnose production issues using logs, packet captures, debuggers, profiling, and Linux networking tools.
  • Develop tests covering protocol behavior, failure conditions, performance, and regressions.
  • Work with engineering, operations, and customer-facing teams to deploy and support services across our global network.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Typically 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of production software. Relevant depth and delivery experience matter more than a strict tenure cutoff.
  • Experience developing and supporting production Linux systems or networking software, beyond administering Linux servers or deploying applications.
  • Strong proficiency in C, C++, Go, or a similar systems-oriented language, with demonstrated experience building and debugging production Linux systems or networking software.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, sockets, and packet flow, including hands-on experience diagnosing networking problems.
  • Practical experience with Linux networking behavior and APIs.
  • Understanding of concurrency, synchronization, memory and resource management, process behavior, and failure handling.
  • Experience investigating performance or reliability problems and using evidence to identify bottlenecks and root causes.
  • Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar code and deliver tested, maintainable changes.
  • Clear communication of technical decisions, tradeoffs, progress, and risks.

Level Expectations

At the Software Engineer II level, you can independently deliver well-scoped work, make sound implementation decisions, and recognize when to seek input.

At the Senior level, you can also turn ambiguous problems into practical designs, evaluate data-plane and control-plane tradeoffs, lead changes spanning services, and improve engineering quality through technical guidance and design reviews.

Level will reflect demonstrated scope, judgment, and ownership.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing firewalls, proxies, VPNs, DNS services, IDS/IPS, or other networking and security products.
  • Production development experience in both C/C++ and Go.
  • Familiarity with BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, and Linux routing.
  • Experience with multitenant configuration management and distributed control planes.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing network-intensive applications.
  • Effective use of AI-assisted development tools, supported by testing and careful review of generated changes.

Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $160,00-180,000 annually, with final compensation determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
