This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer Python/Django – Full Remote based in France.
This role offers the opportunity to join a mature and high-traffic SaaS platform that plays a key role in shaping customer experience for major European enterprises. You will contribute to a product already widely deployed in production, where performance, scalability, and reliability are critical on a daily basis. Alongside maintaining and evolving an established backend, you will also take part in strategic innovation initiatives, particularly around AI and semantic analysis powered by LLM technologies. The environment is highly collaborative, with close interactions across Product, Design, and Data teams from the earliest stages of feature design. You will join a stable and experienced engineering team where technical excellence, autonomy, and knowledge sharing are core values. This is a fully remote role within France, offering flexibility while maintaining strong team cohesion through modern collaboration practices.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Python and Django in a production-grade SaaS environment.
- Build scalable and high-performance REST APIs supporting large-scale usage across enterprise clients.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, technical design discussions, and long-term platform evolution.
- Improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability while actively reducing technical debt.
- Participate in innovation projects, particularly around AI, LLMs, and semantic data processing.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Data teams throughout the full development lifecycle.
- Participate in code reviews, promote best practices, and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in backend development, ideally within a SaaS production environment.
- Strong expertise in Python and Django, with a solid understanding of backend architecture principles.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and RESTful API design.
- Strong knowledge of performance optimization, scalability challenges, and technical debt management.
- Ability to design and deliver robust, maintainable, and scalable backend systems.
- Experience working in collaborative, product-driven environments with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to challenge technical decisions constructively.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch and cloud environments such as Azure is a plus.
- Interest or experience in AI, LLMs, or semantic analysis is highly appreciated.
- Autonomy, team spirit, and a strong product-oriented mindset.
- Competitive salary between €60,000 and €65,000 depending on experience
