Job Summary:

Whirlwind Steel is seeking a Shipping & Customer Service Clerk to support our shipping operations while providing outstanding service to internal teams, customers, and transportation partners. This role is responsible for communicating order updates, resolving shipping-related concerns, and helping ensure products are delivered accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where communication and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for shipping-related questions from customers, sales representatives, and internal departments.
  • Provide timely updates regarding order status, shipment schedules, and delivery information.
  • Monitor shipping schedules and communicate any delays or material shortages.
  • Assist in resolving customer concerns related to shipping, deliveries, or order status.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping documentation and records using company systems.
  • Ensure accurate communication between shipping, manufacturing, sales, and logistics teams.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance customer satisfaction and shipping efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in customer service, shipping, logistics, manufacturing, or warehouse operations preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient with computers; experience with Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Experience with ERP or shipping software is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and safely climb onto trailers when needed.

Work Environment:

This position works in both office and manufacturing settings and requires regular interaction with production, warehouse, transportation, and sales personnel. Employees may be exposed to changing weather conditions, industrial noise, and warehouse equipment. Required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and steel-toe footwear, must be worn in designated areas.
