We're looking for a motivated Technician I to support our technical laboratory operations by maintaining computer systems, organizing IT equipment, assisting with network and workstation support, and ensuring our technology assets remain mission ready.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an early-career IT professional looking to gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise technology in a secure DoW environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, configure, install, upgrade, troubleshoot, repair, and decommission desktop and laptop computers, peripherals, and related IT equipment.
- Organize and maintain technical laboratory equipment and inventory.
- Support workstation deployments, relocations, and hardware refresh activities.
- Perform preventive maintenance on computer hardware and associated equipment.
- Assist with network connectivity troubleshooting, workstation configuration, and peripheral support.
- Support Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Monitor assigned systems including workstations, backup systems, security devices, and network-connected equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and asset accountability.
- Assist with receiving, staging, labeling, and tracking IT assets.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized technical workspace.
- Work closely with engineers, system administrators, and government personnel to resolve technical issues.
- Support project implementations and technology upgrades.
- Prioritize multiple assignments while meeting customer deadlines.
- Participate in technical training and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
- Military technical training may substitute for formal education.
- 1–5 years of experience supporting desktop systems, hardware, or IT operations.
- Working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Windows
- Microsoft 365 (Office)
- Desktop hardware
- Basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, Ethernet, SMTP)
- Mobile devices and peripherals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- A current forklift MHE certification.
- Experience running a forklift.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Able to bend, stretch, and twist
- Able to stand or sit for long periods of time
Clearance:
- Able to obtain a current DoW secret level clearance.
Education & Experience:
- 0 -5 years of work experience.
- Enrolled in a degree program such as Associates degree in IT or related field (or equivalent combination of education/experience. Military IT training counts)
Location:
- Aberdeen, Maryland.
- Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Schedule flexing is available with the PM’s approval.
