Lighthouse Hospice is hiring two Community Liaisons/Marketers to join our expanding team!

North Territory: Buffalo Grove, Northbrook, Skokie, Glenview, and surrounding areas
South Territory: Joliet, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Palos Hills, Lockport, and surrounding areas

Earn a guaranteed salary of $75,000–$90,000 per year, based on experience, plus uncapped commission once base goals are achieved.

Job Title: Community Liaison/Marketer

Reports to: Director of Business Development

Job Summary: The Community Liaison/Marketer serves as a connection between Lighthouse Hospice Care and the community. This role is responsible for identifying community needs, promoting hospice programs and services, and building strong relationships with referral sources, patients, families, and community partners. The Community Liaison/Marketer supports the growth of the organization while maintaining high standards of ethical, compassionate, and quality patient care.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Experience: Previous experience as a community liaison, marketer, or business development professional in healthcare is preferred, with home health or hospice experience strongly preferred.

Skills: Strong communication skills are needed to clearly and compassionately explain hospice services to patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The ability to provide presentations, educate the community, listen carefully, and respond to concerns is essential. This role requires strong relationship-building skills with healthcare providers, community organizations, nursing homes, hospitals, and internal hospice team members. Candidates should have marketing knowledge, technology skills, and the ability to build trust through genuine support and consistent follow-up.

Transportation: Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current auto liability insurance are required.

Environmental and Working Conditions:

Works in a variety of settings, including healthcare facilities, community locations, and office environments. Local travel is required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule and may occasionally be exposed to unpleasant weather conditions.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides guidance to Lighthouse Hospice Care regarding community needs, program development opportunities, staffing needs, and financial considerations.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with healthcare providers, nursing homes, hospitals, physicians, and community organizations. Develops referral networks to support patient admissions and represents Lighthouse Hospice at community events, health fairs, and professional meetings.
  • Educates healthcare professionals, patients, families, and community members about hospice services, eligibility requirements, and the benefits of hospice care. Addresses common misconceptions and provides education regarding hospice, palliative care, and end-of-life options. Conducts presentations, workshops, and other educational programs as needed.
  • Serves as a compassionate resource for patients, families, caregivers, and referral sources. Supports individuals during difficult decision-making processes by answering questions, offering guidance, and helping ensure they feel informed, respected, and supported.
  • Develops and carries out marketing and outreach strategies for assigned territories. Coordinates outreach efforts, including informational mailings, social media communication, presentations, and community engagement activities. Works with the marketing team to identify opportunities to increase visibility and awareness of hospice services.
  • Works closely with physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers to support the referral process. Ensures timely follow-up, maintains strong referral relationships, and tracks referral activity to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Plans and coordinates community events, educational sessions, workshops, and outreach opportunities to promote hospice awareness. May assist with hospice-related events, including support groups and remembrance services for bereaved families. Partners with local organizations and businesses to support community outreach initiatives.
  • Ensures that all outreach, marketing, and referral activities follow Medicare, Medicaid, and other applicable hospice regulations. Maintains ethical standards in all interactions with referral sources, patients, families, and community partners. Remains informed of regulatory changes that may impact hospice outreach activities.
  • Tracks and reports community engagement efforts, referral activity, and outreach results. Uses CRM software to manage referral relationships, document outreach, and evaluate opportunities to improve community engagement and growth strategies.
  • Provides families with information and resources related to grief and bereavement support. Follows up with bereaved families as appropriate and connects them with Lighthouse Hospice Care’s bereavement team and available services.
  • Partners with the Interdisciplinary Group/Team to support safe, effective, and compassionate patient and family care.
  • Provides on-call support as scheduled by Lighthouse Hospice Care.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned by the Director of Business Development.

Physical and Mental Effort:

This position requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry equipment and marketing materials as needed. The ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous in stressful situations is required. Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, respond to organizational needs, and travel locally.
