Holy Cross Roman Catholic Parish invites you to join our diverse and growing parish community as our

Coordinator of Elementary Faith Formation.

This full-time position focuses exclusively on children age four through fifth grade, giving you the opportunity to

build lasting relationships with families and provide catechists with the formation and support they need to

succeed. You will lead traditional religious education, elementary sacramental preparation, and Catechesis of

the Good Shepherd Levels I and II.

What You’ll Do

• Lead parish faith formation for children age four through fifth grade.
• Coordinate preparation for First Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Holy Communion.
• Coordinate Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Levels I and II, with Level II responsibilities extending through preparation for First Reconciliation.
• Recruit, train, support, supervise, and encourage catechists, catechist aides, and other program volunteers.
• Assist catechists with diocesan certification and connect them with opportunities for spiritual and professional formation.
• Plan and facilitate parent meetings, sacramental preparation programs, retreats, and other formation events.
• Equip parents and guardians to live and share the Catholic faith within their homes.
• Welcome participating families and help connect them more fully with the sacramental and parish life of the Church.
• Collaborate with parish clergy, staff, and other ministries to support families and foster a culture of evangelization and discipleship.
• Manage program calendars, registration, attendance, family communications, and sacramental records.
• Coordinate Safe Environment education for students and ensure that catechists and volunteers remain current with diocesan requirements.

What You'll Bring

• Experience in parish faith formation, religious education, sacramental preparation, Catholic education, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, or a related ministry.
• A sound understanding of Catholic doctrine, the sacraments, and the role of parents as the primary educators of their children in the faith.
• A genuine love for working with children and accompanying their families.
• The ability to recruit, develop, organize, and encourage volunteers.
• Pastoral warmth, strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and dependable follow-through.
• The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with families, volunteers, clergy, and parish staff.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn parish database and ministry-management systems.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by formation programs and sacramental events.

Education and Preferred Experience

A bachelor’s degree, certificate, or substantial formal formation in Catholic theology, religious studies,

catechesis, pastoral ministry, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of Catholic formation

and relevant ministry experience will be considered.

Formal Catechesis of the Good Shepherd formation, experience coordinating First Reconciliation and First

Holy Communion, and fluency in English and Spanish are highly desirable.

The successful candidate must complete and remain current with all Diocese of Phoenix Safe Environment

Training, background screening, and related requirements.
