Line Cook – BOH (Covington, WA)

We're looking for a Line Cook who is reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focused.
You're someone who takes pride in preparing food that looks and tastes right every time. You thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen and can follow recipes and portion standards consistently while keeping your station clean and safe.
You're comfortable working closely with fellow back-of-house team members, sushi chefs, and front-of-house staff to keep service moving. You enjoy being part of a kitchen team where everyone pulls together during a rush.

What You'll Do
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with health department regulations and company policies.
- Follow proper food handling, labeling, storage, and rotation procedures using FIFO practices.
- Support efficient kitchen operations by coordinating with fellow BOH team members during peak service periods.
- Assist with food preparation, restocking, and daily opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with BOH and FOH team members to keep service running smoothly.
- Monitor food quality and immediately report issues or shortages to kitchen leadership.
- Follow all safety standards, including knife safety, equipment use, and proper sanitation practices.
- Maintain a positive, team-first attitude and contribute to a respectful, collaborative kitchen culture.

- Perform other related duties and support business needs as assigned.
What's In It for You
Compensation: $18.50/hr. + tips.
- Medical insurance: coverage begins the first of the month following two consecutive months of full-time employment. Trapper's covers 80% of the premium for employee-only coverage on the PPO 1000 plan.

What You Bring
- 1+ year of line cook or kitchen experience preferred; we're willing to train the right candidate.
- Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in a high-volume environment.
- Strong time-management skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable attendance and a positive, team-oriented mindset.
- Washington State Food Worker Card required, or must be obtained within 14 days of beginning work.
The Physical Stuff
- Kitchen-based work environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to regularly bend and reach and to perform repetitive motions such as chopping, stirring, lifting, and plating.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds frequently (ingredients, equipment, containers).
- Exposure to hot surfaces, sharp tools, cleaning chemicals, wet surfaces, and moderate-to-high noise levels.
- Use of required PPE, including non-slip footwear.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts based on business needs.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
