Billing Specialist
Location: Dayton, OH (On-site)
Department: Finance/Billing
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Pay: Based on experience
About Woodhaven:
Woodhaven Residential Treatment Center provides compassionate care for individuals on their recovery journey. We are seeking a Billing Specialist to assist our billing operations and ensure accurate, compliant claims processing for behavioral health services.
Job Overview:
The Billing Specialist leads and plans billing operations for a 4-person department at a substance use disorder treatment facility. You will oversee billing and collections processes, implement quality assurance for insurance claims submissions, and serve as the agency expert on behavioral health coding and reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee billing department operations including behavioral health coding, charge entry, claims submissions, payment posting, collections, and reimbursement management
Lead and coordinate work of 4-person billing team
Design, implement, and enforce billing policies and procedures
Submit claims to Medicaid and commercial insurance carriers; follow up on denials and discrepancies
Prepare monthly billing reports summarizing billings, adjustments, and revenues
Audit billing processes to monitor and improve efficiency
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations
Serve as go-to expert for all coding and billing questions
Assist with EHR technical issues and billing system implementations
Maintain contact with clinical departments to obtain documentation for accurate billing
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
3 years experience in healthcare billing required
Behavioral health or substance use disorder billing experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of Medicaid billing, claims submissions, and reimbursement processes
Experience with EHR systems and electronic claims submission
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and organizational skills
CPR certification required (company-sponsored)
