Job Description

Expedient is a full-stack technology services provider that helps mid-market and enterprise organizations modernize their infrastructure, manage their data, and deploy AI safely at scale. With 25 years in business, a 99 percent client retention rate, a 100 percent uptime SLA, and 200+ active technology certifications, Expedient delivers managed cloud, data, and AI services under a single operating model: Intelligent Infrastructure.

AI CTRL is Expedient's enterprise AI platform. It is the governed environment through which every prompt, every response, and every automated AI workflow inside a customer's organization is routed, monitored, and controlled. The platform is organized around six pillars: Secure AI Gateway, Multi-Model Chat, Compliance and Observability, AI Data Connectors, Agentic Workflow Engine, and Private Model Hosting.

About the Role:

The Agentic AI Outcomes Engineer helps Expedient customers turn manual business processes into autonomous AI workflows. You will scope, design, and build production-grade agentic solutions on customers' AI CTRL Agentic Workflow Engine — the platform they have purchased through Expedient — that deliver measurable ROI in weeks, not quarters.

This is a hands-on builder role with a consultative front end. You will partner with Solutions Architects and customer teams to scope statements of work, design the solution, and then execute the build yourself, end to end. You will own the technical solution from discovery through production deployment.

This role is for engineers who have shipped agentic solutions into production for enterprise customers and who are as comfortable running a discovery workshop as they are in a build session.

What You Will Do:

Engagement Scoping

  • Partner with Solutions Architects and account teams to scope statements of work for AI CTRL Agentic Workflow Engine engagements: process candidates, technical approach, milestones, dependencies, acceptance criteria, and value hypotheses.

  • Run technical discovery with customer business and IT teams to validate solution feasibility and inform SOW sizing.

  • Define solution architecture early so engineering effort, integration risk, and customer expectations are aligned from kickoff.

Workflow and Agent Development

  • Design and build end-to-end agentic workflows on the customer's AI CTRL Agentic Workflow Engine, including data ingestion, prompt engineering, tool integrations, control flow, and acceptance testing.

  • Write production-grade code in Python, and in Go or comparable languages where the engagement requires it. You ship working software, not slides.

  • Build reusable agent components (prompts, tools, evaluations, templates) that the next engagement can start from.

  • Integrate workflows with the customer's existing systems, data sources, and APIs in partnership with their engineering and security teams.

Customer Partnership and Process Engineering

  • Lead and co-facilitate workshops with customer subject matter experts and process owners to map current state, identify automation candidates, and design future-state workflows.

  • Translate business requirements into agent specifications, data contracts, and integration specifications.

  • Build customer confidence in AI adoption by being technically credible and explaining trade-offs clearly.

Quality, Evaluation, and Optimization

  • Define and run evaluation frameworks for every shipped workflow: accuracy, reliability, latency, and cost.

  • Refine agents and prompts based on production performance signals.

  • Build agent guardrails, error handling, and observability so the customer has a workflow they can trust unattended.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Expedient data engineering, professional services, and platform teams to deliver secure, governed customer deployments.

  • Work alongside external delivery partners and subcontractors on multi-party engagements when required.

  • Bring engagement signal back to the AI CTRL product organization. Patterns that recur across engagements become product features.

Knowledge Sharing and Reusability

  • Codify what works across engagements: solution patterns, prompt libraries, evaluation suites, and template workflows.

  • Develop proof-of-concept demos that show the AI CTRL Agentic Workflow Engine handling novel customer challenges.

  • Stay current with emerging tools and frameworks in agentic AI. Bring what is useful into Expedient's delivery model.

What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in software engineering, data engineering, or AI solution development. 2+ years implementing AI or ML solutions in business or customer environments.

  • Track record of shipping agentic AI or LLM-based solutions into production. You have built solutions that ran in real customer environments, not just demos.

  • Hands-on proficiency in Python (Go or comparable also useful), prompt engineering, LLM frameworks, and tool-use patterns.

  • Working knowledge of low-code or agentic workflow platforms (Retool, n8n, Dify, Flowise, LangGraph, or comparable), with the ability to build production workflows in them.

  • Experience integrating LLM-based applications with enterprise systems, databases (SQL and NoSQL), vector databases, and APIs.

  • Customer-facing experience: workshops, technical discovery, solution presentations, and executive briefings.

  • Strong communication. You can explain a model choice to an executive and a prompt change to an engineer in the same conversation.

  • Bias to action. You ship working software and adjust from there, rather than perfecting in isolation.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience scoping or contributing to statement-of-work documents for AI, data, or software implementation engagements.

  • Prior consulting, systems integrator, agency, or professional services background.

  • Familiarity with the broader open-source agent ecosystem: LangGraph, CrewAI, Goose, Langfuse, or comparable tools.

  • Working knowledge of React for extending Retool surfaces and custom UI components.

  • Comfort with vibe coding and other AI-assisted development practices that compress design and build cycles.

  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Experience defining evaluation frameworks for production agentic systems.

  • AI or ML certifications.

Location and Travel:

This role is based on-site at Expedient's Cleveland, OH office. Expect 20 to 30 percent travel to customer sites for kickoffs, workshops, and key milestones.

Salary for this position is directly related to your own experience, knowledge, and skills.  Estimated range for this role is $100,000 to $150,000
