Shipping and Receiving Associate

SUMMARY

The ideal candidate will have a valid driver’s license and will be responsible for picking shipments primarily from the airport and for the acclimation of all newly arriving animals into the facility's water quality and holding system.

Primary RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Pick up shipments from the airport
• Unload, weight, and sort boxes after arrival.
• Open boxes, remove airline/shipper labels, and sort contents.
• Meet daily deadlines and contribute to department goals.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
• Practice good judgment in decision-making and communicate efficiently with Managers when their involvement is necessary.
• Assist with loading and unloading animals for outgoing shipments.
• Open bags and acclimate fish to system conditions.
• Put items away in their correct locations.
• Stack boxes and throw away trash and recycle.
• Assist in putting up the labels.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Secondary Responsibilities

• Assist with labeling and packaging for outgoing shipments.
• Provide coverage freshwater husbandry tasks as needed.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
• Previously worked in aquarium or warehouse is a plus
• Ability to work well independently or as part of a team.
• Sound judgment and ability to use common sense for effective decision-making.
• Ability to work under pressure

Qualification/Requirements

• A valid driver’s license is a plus.
• Hard working.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
• Weekend and Holiday work required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing and active movement for long periods (7+ hours/day).
• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs., kneel, bend, crouch, squat, and stand for extended periods.
