Service HVAC Team Lead

Blauch Brothers, Inc.

Position Summary

The Service HVAC Team Lead is a senior-level field leadership position responsible for providing expert HVAC service, diagnostics, maintenance, repair, and customer support for commercial and industrial HVAC systems. This role serves as a technical leader within the Service Department and works closely with the Service HVAC Supervisor to support technician development, training, scheduling coordination, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Service HVAC Team Lead is expected to demonstrate advanced technical expertise, strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, sound judgment, accountability, and a commitment to safety, customer satisfaction, and company culture. This position plays a critical role in supporting team performance while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Blauch Brothers standards.

This is a safety-sensitive position.

Core Responsibilities – HVAC Service Operations

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, repair, replacement, and startup services on commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
• Service equipment including rooftop units, boilers, chillers, VRF systems, controls, and related mechanical equipment.
• Evaluate equipment performance and recommend corrective actions and long-term solutions.
• Generate service recommendations and support quote development when needed.
• Complete service documentation accurately and promptly.
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with company standards, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.

Core Responsibilities – Team Leadership & Workforce Development

• Provide day-to-day technical leadership and guidance to HVAC technicians and apprentices.
• Assist the Service HVAC Supervisor with technician development, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Help identify training needs and support ongoing workforce development efforts.
• Coordinate and facilitate technical training opportunities utilizing both internal and external resources.
• Support accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the department.
• Assist with work planning and coordination among field team members as needed.

Core Responsibilities – Customer Service & Communication

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professionalism, technical expertise, and effective communication.
• Communicate clearly regarding equipment conditions, repair options, project status, and timelines.
• Coordinate effectively with customers, dispatch, project managers, supervisors, and other internal departments.
• Represent Blauch Brothers professionally in all customer interactions.

• Maintain compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and training requirements.
• Ensure safe operation and use of company vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials.
• Promote and reinforce safe work practices among team members.
• Participate in department safety meetings, training activities, and company initiatives.
• Perform work in accordance with current industry standards, applicable codes, and company quality expectations.

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience servicing and troubleshooting commercial HVAC systems.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC equipment, controls, and applications.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development abilities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assess situations and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with mobile technology, tablets, and service software.
• Journeyman-level HVAC experience required; advanced certifications and licensure preferred.
• Desire to pursue additional industry credentials and professional growth.

Schedule

Full-time position.

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, generally averaging 40–45 hours per week based on customer demand, seasonal workload, and operational needs. Additional hours, on-call responsibilities, and schedule adjustments may be required based on business demands.

Blauch Brothers, Inc. pays weekly each Thursday.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks common to the mechanical service industry.
• Ability to climb ladders, work in elevated locations, crawl, kneel, bend, and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with arms overhead for extended periods.
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Ability to operate tools, equipment, vehicles, mobile devices, and diagnostic instruments.

Organizational Relationship

The Service HVAC Team Lead reports to the Service HVAC Supervisor and provides technical leadership and guidance to HVAC technicians and apprentices.

Selection Requirements

• Valid, non-expired state-issued driver's license
• Passing a driving records check (as determined by our insurer)
• Passing a criminal history check
• Passing a drug test
• Meeting employment eligibility requirements under Form I-9 to work in the United States
