Job Description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for an Instrumentation Technician to troubleshoot, set up instrumentation, electrical motors, PLC, MCC panels, and ladder logic programming. This role will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining assorted plant control and process monitoring instrumentation at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems. Safely isolate, ground and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs.
  • Install and maintain drive systems such as variable frequency drives, eddy current, and DC drives. Install and maintain programmable logic control systems (PLC). Interpret and/or modify PLC control logic as necessary. Install and calibrate pressure, temperature, flow, and level controls.
  • Install electrical conduit, pull, and terminate wiring.
  • Effectively communicate problems and solutions to resolve electrical problems.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Instrument Technology certification.
  • At least 3 years’ commercial or industrial instrumentation experience.
  • Ability to use test and calibration equipment to calibrate transmitters and control loops, use mathematics and algebra to scale and calibrate process instrumentation, and use computer and related computer software to program controllers and analyze control loops.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended schedule and weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.
