We are seeking a Software Engineer IV with a strong background in User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design to support the development of mission-critical government applications. This position combines advanced software engineering expertise with human-centered design principles to create intuitive, efficient, and accessible user experiences that support operational mission requirements. The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of modern user interfaces, collaborate with government stakeholders and development teams, and translate complex requirements into effective software solutions. This individual will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a key contributor throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of user-centered software applications supporting government mission objectives.
- Design intuitive, accessible, and effective user interfaces that enhance operational effectiveness and user adoption.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders to gather requirements, understand user workflows, and identify usability improvements.
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and interface designs that align with mission requirements and technical constraints.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineers and development teams.
- Support software architecture, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, design specifications, and engineering artifacts.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, design reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure solutions meet security, performance, scalability, reliability, and usability requirements.

Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance preferred. Candidates with an active Public Trust clearance or higher may be considered if eligible to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology with a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience as permitted under contract requirements.
- Experience designing and implementing modern user interfaces and user experiences.
- Experience applying UI/UX principles, user-centered design methodologies, and usability best practices.
- Experience creating wireframes, mockups, prototypes, workflows, and user interface specifications.
- Experience collaborating with software developers, product owners, and stakeholders to translate requirements into user-centered solutions.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, application architecture, and software development lifecycle methodologies.
- Ability to provide technical direction and guidance to junior engineers and developers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical reports, design documentation, and engineering artifacts.
Highly Desired Experience:
- Practical experience working in Agile environments utilizing the Scrum framework.
- Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) certification.
- Understanding of secure application design principles and the impact of cybersecurity requirements on user experience and accessibility.
- Scrum certifications and demonstrated experience supporting Agile product development teams.
