About the role

D-Wave is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Calibration, Automation, and Tools team to evolve the automated calibration systems and tooling for our QPUs (quantum processing units) within the Systems Software Engineering department. This team works directly with our quantum software engineers and physicists, building the software platform needed for calibration protocol development and execution.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both front-end and back-end development with the ability to contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions.  We are looking for engineers with diverse experiences such as distributed systems, data streaming, scientific computing, embedded systems, networking, and real-time control systems.

What you'll do

Develop and support systems and tools for quantum processor calibration and operationCollaborate with product managers, scientists, and other engineers to translate functional requirements into technical specifications and solutionsArchitect, develop, and maintain web applications and systems from concept to productionDesign and implement user interfaces using modern front-end technologiesArchitect and build efficient, reliable, and maintainable back-end systemsWrite clean, well-documented code, and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainabilityTroubleshoot and debug issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize performance and improve the user experienceProvide mentorship and guidance to junior software engineers

About You

Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, math, or physics5+ years of hands-on full stack software development experience both in front-end and back-end technologiesStrong Python experience and experience in another high-level language such as Java, Go, C, or C++Proficient in front-end technologies and modern frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, or Vue.js)Proficient in database systems and SQL with hands-on experience working with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle)Proficient with microservices architecture and RESTful APIsCompetence with Git version control, build tools, and CI/CD pipelinesCompetence with cloud platforms specifically AWSUse of software testing principles and practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testingStrong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts
