Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Obtain metal samples according to production schedules, procedures, and work orders.
2. Evaluate metal samples on the spectrometer and appropriate lab equipment.
3. Obtain test bars according to production schedules, procedures, and work orders.
4. Perform ductile iron nodularity checks according to production schedules, procedures, and work orders.
5. Coordinate the production of gray and ductile iron grades with Foundry Operations according to established procedures.
6. Perform basic spectrometer and appropriate lab equipment preventative maintenance.
7. Validate mechanical properties of test bars according to established procedures.
8. Basic evaluation of ductile casting microstructures.
9. Perform hardness checks.
10. Maintain equipment in proper working order.
11. Adheres to 6s and safety procedures.
12. Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS (BACKGROUND/SKILL/TRAINING):
1. High school diploma, GED and/or 1-2 years of previous manufacturing experience preferred.
2. Detail oriented and ability to multitask.
3. Demonstrates general mathematical skills
4. Read and understand work orders.
5. Demonstrates basic mechanical and assembly abilities.
6. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills; Able to work independently or as a team.
7. Reads and understands English.
8. Able to lift, push or pull up to 50lbs routinely.
9. Able to work over-time as required by production.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The work is primarily performed in a non-temperature controlled; smoke-free manufacturing environment. Noise level is moderate to loud. The individual is exposed to extremes in temperature on a regular basis. Employee is required to wear designated PPE at all times while in the plant. Work may be performed near equipment with moving parts or require use of some chemicals and resigns.
