Job Description

Global Kids, Inc. is seeking a hard-working and creative individual to assist with contract management and career/workforce readiness for youth. This position is based at Transit Tech High School in Brooklyn, NY. The Assistant Contract Coordinator will be responsible for reporting program deliverables and managing databases. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.

Candidates should have experience in youth development and possess a solid understanding of or interest in global education, social justice, and human rights. This position is fully in-person and available for immediate start.

Responsibilities include:

School & Community Partnerships

  • Work closely with the Site Director to provide overall support, management, and supervision of school-based Global Kids staff, including daily management of tasks, facilitating weekly staff check-ins, daily program observations with immediate feedback, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop strong relationships with NYC DOE teachers, parents and students, especially through existing inquiry groups such as the School Cabinet and School Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Work collaboratively with school administrators and staff to develop, implement, and assess the High School initiatives within the school.
  • Work with school staff (principals, faculty, guidance counselors, parent coordinators, facilities staff, program partners, etc.) to conduct quality and safe programming.
  • Broker new partnerships aligned with school goals and needs.
  • Help navigate, secure resources, and build/sustain relationships with participants, parents, school staff, other CBOs, etc.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with multiple stakeholders such as students, families, school personnel, program partners (DOT, MTA and others), policy makers and other community members.

Data Management, Outcomes & Evaluation

  • Assist with overall PTS data management and timely entry through weekly internal audit
  • Collect and maintain necessary documentation including but not limited to enrollment forms, student eligibility documentation, student files, attendance, case notes, Equal Opportunity (EO) documents and program materials/handouts
  • Assist with data collection, research, and prepare relevant data for outcomes evaluation and data-based decision-making.

Attendance

  • Identify needs of chronically absent students, apply interventions, and track and monitor impact of interventions on a weekly basis as part of weekly Student Success meetings.
  • Manage and conduct attendance outreach, recruitment and retention services including attendance monitoring/data review, data entry, attendance incentive activities and phone calls.
  • Remain informed on current High Schools/Attendance Intervention and Dropout Prevention guidelines and contractor responsibilities; attend provider meetings; trainings; and maintain contact with the DYCD Program Manager

School Day and Extended Learning Day Programming

  • Link school day to extended day learning opportunities and afterschool programming.
  • Coordinate and co-facilitate interactive, experiential workshops and activities for GK's weekly school-day and after-school programs and ensure the implementation of quality programming.
  • Organize special events, parent nights, performances, and other events.
  • Ensure student and Global Kids staff participation in Global Kids citywide events.
  • Attend school events, which may happen during after-school hours or weekends.
  • Occasional overnight and long-distance travel required.

Administrative Tasks

  • Serve as liaison with DYCD Central Validation Unit and Equal Opportunities Rights departments
  • Ensure all program and student records (digital and hard copy) are securely maintained, including but not limited to workshops, field trips, student attendance and incentive forms.
  • Ensure attendance and other data are entered into funder database systems in a timely.
  • Follow, and ensure staff follow, all GK fiscal procedures for ordering supplies and reporting on expenses
  • Collaborate with Case Manager to collect and submit quarterly program claims for students in the follow-up status
  • Manage caseload of students throughout the school year and Summer Internship Program, including monitoring job placement, visiting job sites, collecting documents, and keeping files updated.
  • Ensure Global Kids and school staff members are aware of changes and new developments to contractual and programmatic guidelines and expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field and 5 years of professional experience are preferred.
  • Experience working within the New York City Department of Education and knowledge of Department of Education policies and protocols.
  • Experience and ability to work with youth and/or use interactive learning strategies in culturally diverse settings.
  • Experience in community organizing and/or community outreach
  • Understanding a wide array of NYC social service resources for youth and families.
  • Experience supervising personnel and managing teams required.
  • Experience managing large contracts and meeting multiple contractual obligations
  • Experience working in school-based settings with knowledge about community organizing, student support services, and youth development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, and community partners.
  • Commitment to and understanding of working in culturally diverse settings and using antiracist pedagogical practices
  • Knowledge of and passion for global issues, political science, history, education, and social activism.
  • Excellent facilitation, consensus-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, creativity, willingness to learn, and ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Strong communication, writing, organizational, and technology skills.
  • Fluency in other languages is a plus

Salary/Benefits: This full-time exempt position has an annual salary of $66,300.00.
