Accountabilities:

The Director, Brand Communications will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy that supports disease awareness, market shaping, and commercial launch objectives. This role requires a combination of strategic vision, operational excellence, and strong collaboration across marketing, medical, legal, regulatory, and communications teams.

  • Own the development and execution of brand communications strategies across healthcare professionals, patients, advocacy organizations, media, and scientific audiences.
  • Establish and manage communications plans, content calendars, messaging frameworks, and channel strategies to ensure consistency across earned, owned, and paid platforms.
  • Lead product launch communications planning, including milestone announcements, narrative development, media strategies, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
  • Drive disease awareness initiatives by creating compelling education programs focused on unmet medical needs and patient impact.
  • Develop congress and scientific communications strategies, including media engagement, publication announcements, KOL interactions, and post-event amplification.
  • Build and manage advocacy partnerships with healthcare organizations and community groups, creating meaningful engagement programs beyond traditional sponsorships.
  • Develop patient storytelling initiatives and ambassador programs, including content development, speaker preparation, compliance processes, and channel planning.
  • Own brand and disease-state social media strategies in partnership with digital and marketing teams.
  • Establish monitoring and rapid-response processes for media, social, competitive, and advocacy-related developments.
  • Manage external PR agencies, budgets, vendor relationships, performance expectations, and strategic planning activities.
  • Partner with Legal, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Corporate Communications, and Marketing teams to ensure compliant and effective communications.
  • Measure communications performance through coverage quality, engagement, message adoption, share of voice, and other relevant metrics.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced healthcare communications leader with a strong background in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments. You bring expertise in brand storytelling, launch communications, stakeholder engagement, and navigating regulated communications processes while maintaining a strategic and collaborative approach.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred, with 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare communications.
  • At least 6 years of experience leading brand PR or communications initiatives in HCP- or patient-facing environments.
  • Proven experience owning brand communications strategies within regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology organizations.
  • Strong preference for experience supporting cardiovascular, hypertension, or healthcare product launches.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage PR agencies and external partners within MLR/PRC review environments.
  • Experience developing advocacy engagement programs and building relationships with healthcare organizations.
  • Familiarity with patient ambassador and celebrity ambassador programs, including compliance and legal considerations.
  • Strong understanding of MLR/PRC processes and the ability to move communications materials efficiently through approvals.
  • Ability to operate effectively in pre-launch environments with changing priorities and limited structure.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent writing, messaging, presentation, and communication abilities.
  • High ownership mindset, resourcefulness, strategic thinking, and ability to turn complex topics into clear narratives.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, including occasional overnight or international travel.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of $185,000–$210,000 USD.
  • Fully remote work environment.
