Principal/Lead Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal/Lead Software Engineer based in the United States.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and mentor a globally distributed engineering team, fostering technical excellence through coaching, code reviews, and day-to-day guidance.
  • Drive architectural decisions for scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems while contributing directly to full-stack development.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to define technical strategy, roadmap priorities, and long-term platform improvements.
  • Build and enhance customer-facing applications, internal tools, and automated operational systems using modern web technologies.
  • Partner with product managers, QA, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality features and ensure successful product releases.
  • Promote engineering best practices, including testing, code quality, security, documentation, and continuous integration.
  • Identify and resolve technical risks, optimize application performance, improve development workflows, and support ongoing platform innovation.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including technical leadership and system architecture responsibilities.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams within distributed or remote environments.
  • Strong full-stack development expertise with modern technologies such as React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and RESTful API design.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS services such as EC2, S3, Route 53, and RDS.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, scalability, security, testing methodologies, and modern development best practices.
  • Familiarity with AI development frameworks or tooling, including LangChainJS, is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, database administration, automated testing, UX/UI principles, or DevOps practices is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong ownership mindset, adaptability, and the ability to balance technical quality with business priorities in a dynamic environment.
