As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and evolution of backend systems and integrations that support data-driven healthcare solutions. You will own complex technical projects from concept through production while collaborating with engineering, product, clinical, and data teams.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that ingest, process, and deliver high-volume health data.
- Lead technical initiatives focused on improving system reliability, observability, performance, and data integrity.
- Drive architecture decisions for integrations with third-party data sources, APIs, and connected health platforms.
- Develop robust solutions that translate healthcare requirements into reliable technical implementations.
- Improve system resilience and ensure accuracy across clinically important workflows.
- Own projects end-to-end, including technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operational support.
- Partner with product, clinical, and data science teams to define solutions for complex business and healthcare challenges.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to improving engineering standards through design reviews, testing practices, documentation, and operational excellence.
- Support roadmap planning by breaking down ambiguous technical challenges into clear and actionable engineering initiatives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, infrastructure, and platform capabilities.
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced backend engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and building reliable systems that operate at scale. You should have strong software engineering fundamentals, experience with distributed systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend development focus.
- Experience building backend applications using modern frameworks and languages such as Ruby on Rails and Python.
- Strong experience with relational databases including PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems with high reliability and data integrity requirements.
- Experience working with data pipelines, event-driven architectures, real-time processing systems, or large-scale integrations.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, documentation, and maintainable architecture.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Comfortable working independently, managing complex projects, and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration skills with a passion for mentoring and supporting other engineers.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience working in healthcare, medical technology, or regulated environments such as HIPAA or FDA-regulated systems.
- Familiarity with connected health devices, including continuous glucose monitors, wearables, or remote monitoring technologies.
- Experience improving data quality, validation processes, or reconciliation pipelines.
- Background building infrastructure platforms or systems used by multiple engineering teams.
- Experience with AWS, cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, GraphQL, and modern CI/CD practices.
