Job Description
Job Summary:
Under the supervision under the Program Director of Inpatient Therapy Services, the Recreational Therapist organizes, coordinates, and evaluates recreational therapeutic activities for his/her assigned unit. Evaluates patients, determines treatment goals, and then documents within the EMR on goals and interventions on individual care plans for patients. Provides community education services as needed. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed This employee will also be responsible for all other assigned duties and tasks on an as-needed basis.

- Demonstrate the ability to facilitate group therapy using experiential and/or recreational interventions.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate clinically with staff within various roles.
- Demonstrate the willingness and ability to actively participate in helping achieve the objectives of the department; able to work independently as well as with a team.
- Demonstrated the ability to complete all required trainings and/or certifications and attend all required meetings.
- Demonstrate the ability to be flexible with changing priorities; able to tolerate high stress situations / mental demands and make decisions that are ethically and legally sound.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Bachelor degree in therapeutic recreation or related field required.
Work Experience:
Work experience in a mental health setting is preferred
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Licensed to practice in MS as indicated by educational specialty (CRTS)
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
