Job Summary:

The Deposit Account Review Specialist is responsible for centralized quality control review of new deposit accounts, existing account maintenance activities, and fraud alert monitoring. This position ensures timely account review, accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and consistent operational practices across all branch locations. The role serves as a key risk management function by identifying account opening and maintenance errors, monitoring correction timelines, reviewing fraud alerts through Verafin, and supporting audit readiness. This position strengthens internal controls, enhances customer experience through timely issue resolution, and promotes operational efficiency across the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Perform quality control reviews of all new deposit accounts and customer records within established service standards.
  2. Review account documentation for completeness, accuracy, compliance, and adherence to bank policies and procedures.
  3. Identify, document, and communicate account opening and maintenance exceptions through Salesforce or other designated systems.
  4. Monitor and track correction timelines, ensuring timely resolution of identified deficiencies.
  5. Coordinate with branch personnel to obtain missing documentation and resolve account discrepancies.
  6. Conduct account title and ownership reviews to ensure records accurately reflect customer intent and legal ownership structures.
  7. Perform quality control reviews of account maintenance activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  8. Maintain documentation supporting account review findings, corrective actions, and resolution status.
  9. Review, investigate, and disposition fraud alerts generated through Verafin and other monitoring systems.
  10. Analyze account activity and transactions to identify potentially suspicious or fraudulent activity.
  11. Coordinate with frontline bankers and other departments to obtain information necessary to resolve fraud alerts and investigations.
  12. Document findings and maintain accurate records within Verafin and other applicable systems.
  13. Escalate potentially suspicious activity and significant operational concerns to management and compliance personnel as appropriate.
  14. Assist in the preparation of reports, exception tracking, trend analysis, and management reporting.
  15. Support internal and external audits by gathering documentation and responding to information requests.
  16. Promote consistent operational procedures and best practices across all branch locations.
  17. Serve as a resource regarding account documentation requirements, account titling standards, and deposit operations procedures.
  18. Helps promote a culture of regulatory compliance and safe and sound banking practices.
  19. Knows and strictly follows all security, compliance, regulatory, internal control procedures, policies, and laws.
  20. Be aware of and support the Bank's efforts in meeting the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).
  21. Undertakes special projects and duties as assigned.

  6. Proficient with personal computers, Microsoft Office applications, core banking systems, Salesforce, Verafin, and other bank software platforms.
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive customer and bank information.
  8. Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  9. Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability for assigned responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

Associate's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred. Equivalent banking experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

A minimum of three to five years of banking experience required, with experience in deposit operations, account opening, branch operations, compliance, fraud monitoring, audit support, or a related banking discipline preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel to branch locations may be required for training, audits, operational reviews, meetings, and other business purposes.
